So i've been experiencing psychosis a bit recently, it doesnt happen very often though, only when in a mixed state and i havent been having a lot of those recently.
I went to see pdoc yesterday and was in a full blown mixed state, he wants me to go on abilify, if i get up to 150mg of Lactimal and the symptoms havent gone.
I'm worried about this.
If you gave Abilify to a normal person who didnt experience psychosis what would happen?
i know its not a drug you can just take when you need it, else it wont really work, but wont it affect me badly when i'm not suffering any psychosis.

I take Abilify and do not have psychosis. It was added to my antidepressant to boost its effects. It doesn't create any mental problems although, as with all drugs, there can be side effects.

Some people experience restlessness with Abilify, but it makes me a little bit on the sleepy side.

Everyone is different though.

I am like Anneinside, Abilify was added to my antidepressant. I have never experienced psychosis from it. My body gets very restless and I feel like I have to keep moving. I also have tremors from it, they are undercontrol most of the time with cogentin.

I've never had psychosis, but I have been on abilify. It helped with depression and racing thoughts.

I took abilify to up the effectiveness of my antidepressant. Never been psychotic. LOVED it but didn't sleep well on it.

I've been taking Abilify, and my understanding is that, for me, it is to prevent psychosis.

Abilify was added to my mix after I punched someone in a Walmart parking lot that ticked me off. It helped with my extreme irritability and rage. May help with my depression, too? No side effects, maybe makes me sleepy.

Abilify was prescribed to me "as needed", my pdoc said i can take it when i'm feeling low to give me a boost..and i don't have to take it all the time..

I'm worried because i hated seroquel so much.
But it might be worth a try because i'm very agitated and crazy at the moment.

I can get very agitated on meds and it did not do that with me. Didn't make me a zombi either. I took seroquel once, didn't think I would make it through the night... for me Abilify is totally different. I was told it took time to get to a 'therapeutic level' in your system though... but then I am not with that Pdoc any more...

I had a panic attack because i didnt realise they couldnt MAKE you take it, and i thought they were going to say i had to!
Its bloody awful that drug is.
If my symptoms are not helped when i am up to 150 lactimal i will accept that i need to try abilify.
