Today I start a new job as a waitress. I am about to freak out! I don't want to go, but I need the job. I am going to be interacting with so many people my nerves are going haywire.

I understand completely! That's how I was (and still am) when I first started my job. I interact with a lot of people too. It's still hard but I've found if you take deep breaths, praise yourself and take everything one step at a time it helps out.
Good luck with your new job and I hope things work out for you! ![]()

Just try to focus on each table as though they are your only customers while interacting. Eventually you will learn to keep things memorized but just take it one table at a time. The people there just want to get some food and have courteous service. They probably won't remember much about you except whether you did your job correctly. I always just tried to treat my customers the way I like to be treated when eating out.
