I'm almost out of meds after making a 1 month supply stretch 2 months. My company has been out of production so they haven't hired me full time. Therefore I still don't have health insurance and really can't afford my meds. Is there anyway I can get them free or dirt cheap. I know some place do $4 or $10 generics, but do these promotions cover things like anticonvulsants??
HELP!!

Numerous drug companies offer programs if you qualify financially. I haven't personally tried them but from my understanding they offer the medicine at reduced cost for those without insurance and/or have low incomes. Here are the some websites for their patient assistance programs by company.

Pfizer http://www.pfizerhelpfulanswers.com/...c/Default.aspx
Roche/Genentech http://www.genentechaccesssolutions.com/portal/site/AS/
GlaxoSmithKline http://us.gsk.com/html/healthcare/he...scription.html
Novartis/Gleevec http://www.gleevec.com/index.jsp?use...62023379850290
Sanofi http://www.sanofi.us/l/us/en/layout....3-B687305CCAE9
AstraZenca http://www.astrazeneca-us.com/help-a...our-medicines/
Abbott http://www.abbott.com/citizenship/pr...access/pap.htm
Merck http://www.merck.com/merckhelps/
Eli Lilly http://www.lilly.com/responsibility/.../programs.aspx
Bristol-Myers Squibb http://www.bms.com/products/Pages/programs.aspx

Also Walgreens has a prescription drug card that is $20 a year provides discounts on some brand name drugs and has generics for as little as $1. You would have to check to see what the coverage would be for your medicine. You can check online at

Well that's the problem too. I am happy this way, overly optimistic even. If you would ask me what's my mood on the scale of 1-10 i would say at least a 12.

PC has a discount card for meds. that you just have to print out. You can get a good discount on your meds. by using this card.

I would give it a try and see how much of a discount you can get.

I printed one out because we have a $6,000 deductible for our insurance and it really, really sux. Health insurance has gone down hill for everybody. It is getting more and more difficult for everybody who need meds. to be able to afford them.

I just printed out the card so I do not know exactly what discount you can get, but it is worth a try.

I am without insurance for many more months. Thank GOD I got all 8 of my mix of meds to be generics...they run about $60.00 month total. Yes, it's constraining me with name brand or XR choices re: my hed meds but that's just a concession I have to make. My pdoc is doing his best.

An expensive (500.00/mo) took me about 5 months to secure a year's worth for FREE with the RX manufacturer. My doc was kind enough to float me samples well beyond the usual til I got that secuerd. Also, I secured dirt cheap generics that WERE NOT on those $4.00 lists from my state government. Our plan, for example, gives me $8.00/ month, $16.00/3 month supplies on up to 5 drugs on their list, my choice. They WOULD NOT cover any name brand drug. Not every state has this and it is only a drug, not health insurance +, plan. Qualifying was easy.

Those drug company plans are called PAP plans or Patient Assistence Programs. You and your doc just fill out a simple form together, you send in financial info and a prescription. Most times they'll accept all this by fax. They approve within different time frames. I saw some web addresses another member gave you to get started. Just check who makes the drug you need.

I'm sure similar info like this exists here on other forums. Good luck. This has been my experience and it's going to get my by well the next months too.

Thank you Beezup. I will def. ask my pdoc about this when I see him at the end of the month. I'm afraid I may make too much money to qualify. My spending problem makes that I have few funds. I buy tobacco, booze, and new toys instead of setting money aside for my meds. Irresposible, I know, but I was banking on being hired within the first month like my boss originally told me. Just my like I came during a low production period and the company doesn't want to hire anyone else til they get back in the coal and back in the money.
