I haven't posted for about a year now so hopefully it's ok,

Anyone else worry about having a facebook and then getting manic and writing bizarre things and telling people off?
I resisted getting one for that very reason but now I'm really getting into it.
I'm stable now but you never know what the future will bring.
Only my family and close friends know that I have bipolar disorder.

as long as youre stable i wouldnt worry about it. i have facebook but i dont use it for anything just to keep up on what friends or family are doing, but i see neices putting way too much about their personal lives on there and i am embarrassed for them. so maybe you could ask your friends and family who know you are bp to let you know if you are getting out of hand and not post during times you are manic. i know i tend to write very long, informative emails to people during those times and become very embarrased afterward.

MY OPINION: I don't there is any reason to be worried about telling people off or giving your opinions. If they post then they have no reason to complain of the feedback. If they didn't want feedback then they shouldn't blast their business/feelings etc on their facebook post.

I think a big problem w/FB is that people are inclined to add a bunch of people they don't even know to their friends list... it's always a mixed bag! That said, if someone doesn't like what you post, they can easily delete you from their friends list - or you can delete them if they cause you grief. I make an arse of myself frequently, but my true friends just let me be myself.

Thank you everyone.

When I say telling people off I mean not for any comments they may have written that bothered me but for no reason at all. When manic, my opinions, judgement, temper and everything is way out of whack.

I also am sensitive like when I request a friendship and don't hear back. My kids say i take it too seriously. It's hard though when you have these feelings.

I have this problem. I'll write things in my status that make perfect sense to me but either make no sense to others or freak people out. I also find myself giving TMI in messages or on chat. some people get offended but many people know im bp so they know to either not take offense or just ignore it
