I hope you are correct...remember if you have a relapse it will take the meds time to work again. What you are doing is common for us and usually a mistake.

Trippin, I have gone off my meds. so many times and was okay for a little while, and then I always went into some sort of episode.

I know it's natural to not want to take meds. and be in denial about your BP.

I just hope you continue to do well, but please watch yourself.

Well good luck with that. I tried it and had to learn the hard way. As Dr. Phil says (and I really don't like Dr.Phil) "When you choose the behavior, you choose the consequences". I have suffered the consequences. It sucks to be BP but being BP without meds is even worse. Especially the depression. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Hope it all works out.

How do your doc and family and friends feel about you stopping your meds Trippin?

It's hard to judge just by you own feelings how you really are.

Your feelings could be skew.

We all need someone......

You need to tell them, with medication comes the responsibility "trust" to yourself and the ones in your life.

You may lose there trust, is it really how you want to go ahead.

What if you are wrong?

It's hard to get people to trust you if things start to go down hill.

I really wish you the best but you should talk to your P doc and come up with a plan just in case you are wrong and to give them a heads up so they will know what they are dealing with just in case. There is nothing wrong with being prepared just in case. It also may decrease the episode you have if your P doc is prepared and you both have a plan in place. If the diagnosis was truly wrong you won't have to use it, but it may help you out if that diagnosis was correct.

In the future work with you doctor to get off your meds. The doctor may not approve but they would rather work with you if you plan on going off then having you do it on your own. They will step you down which decreases the chance of a episode as compared to going cold turkey.
