SO, I went to the Pdoc yesterday because I am manic right now and he is going to mess with my meds. Well, I guess I just thought that things would get better overnight, but that isn't the case.
I am seeing things out of the corner of my eye and I keep hearing people call my name. I am at work and I keep saying, "What" in response to someone calling me, but no one called me. My coworkers look at me as though I am crazy because I keep saying "What". I have come to the conclusion that I am not going to respond to my name being called anymore.
I can't wait to go home today because I can't stand these hallucinations anymore. I may even stay home from work tomorrow if they continue.
How do you get over the hallucinations?

I guess give the meds a little time to work, antipsychotics? I know that can be very frustrating, especially when you have to work. I wouldn't wait too long before calling the pdoc back if it continues. (((((onlymedid))))))

I wasn't able to get over them by myself, that's for sure! I was delusional, paranoid, and experiencing hallucinations. I ended up hospitalized, and only when I was taken off one med and tried on another did the symptoms go away.

I hope you and your pdoc are able to find a good med cocktail soon, because I've never heard of anyone "getting over" their hallucinations without medication!

While you still have them though, just try to remind yourself that the hallucinations you see/hear are not real. The fact that you have insight is great - I didn't have very much insight during my manic episode.

Sending you hugs and positive vibes.

Hearing things and seeing things....they didn't put you on deprakote did they? If this had been going on for a while you might want to talk to him about schizoaffective disorder. But if it was caused by the meds.......please call him right away.

Thanks everyone for the input. I did tell him about hallucinations and he took me off Lexapro and put me on klonopin. I will call him sooner if they don't go away.

onlymedid ... I have a question. Is this considered hallucinations? I talked to my PDoc about this months ago and she took it like it was just normal. I always find my self turning my head to see what is moving out of the corner of my eye and I hear a female voice calling my name. This seems to come and go. My PDoc has never brought it up again. I feel like I would be stupid to bring up something again that my PDoc took so lightly in a previous session. There are a few things that I have brought up that I never ask about again because I tend to think that if it is not important enough to her then it must just be side effects of BP or of the meds.

One possibility may be schizoaffective disorder. When I talked to my doctor about the same thing he just noted it and said it wouldn't change my meds either way as he would prescribe the same thing for both the BP or the schizoaffective disorder. There's a good forum here on that, maybe you will recognize some of the symptoms. Then you can share that with the doc.

Thanks porcupine2. Just dont know how bringing up something that was just noted previously by the PDoc would be received. I don't want my PDoc to think I am questioning her ability.

I hope you find more answers than I have. No meds have taken away the voices or visuals. Reducing my stress made the visuals not as detailed (now they are more like yours, something from the corner of my eye as opposed to sight and feeling hallucinations where I would feel and see spiders crawling all over me and such) and the voices are not as loud. It seems when I'm under a great deal of stress or pain, the hallucinations get MUCH worse. It's hard not to stress when so much can go wrong but I've been trying to manage that on my own unmedicated... Not so easy, I need some valium! lol
