Since I began this med I have gained a lot of weight, so was wondering if the weight gain/appetite decreases at higher doses as does the sleep effect - am currently on 30mg daily.

I haven't taken this drug but I haven't found appetite to be one of the side effects that fades over time. More like you eat up to the weight you become and then the weight stabilizes at the higher level.
Thanks for this!

im on mirtazipine and was taking 30mg
i mentioned to my pdoc that this was making me put on weight. i put on 11lbs in 3 months he said the higher the doseage the bigger the risk so hes just reduced me down to 15mg. I have other probs on this drug too - excessive sleepiness (altho i now take it at night) and bad joint pain. so far the reduced doesage is improving the joint pain massively. i dont know how im going to fair on reduced doseage but only time will tell that - its only been a week

Hey thanks Laura, that's exactly what I need to know before I see my Doc. I have been weighing up the weight gain vs anti depressant efect, and seeing as how it's not hitting the spot with my depression I'm thinking I will ask for a change. If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it!
