I'll grab one & hold onto it. Write it down if it tries to get away. Sometimes I'll write it over & over, say it aloud as I write. I make myself sit at a table and write. I have to write the same thought many times before I let myself move on.

Usually after a half hour or so I start coming down.

Sometimes I try to slow them down by making myself take notice of my surroundings, do I smell anything? Taste anything? is it hot, cold? is there any noise, what noises? Sometimes this helps ground my thoughts.

Roadrunner, excellent idea!

I know it might sound strange but I lay down in my bed and rock myself and try to calm my mind.
