I saw my pdoc yesterday and explained to her that I was always waking up too early in the morning and only got about 4 to 4-1/2 hrs. of sleep a night and was always tired.

She asked me if I ever had a sleep study done and I said no. She said she wouldn't be surprised if I suffered from Restless Leg Syndrome. I asked her why and she said because so many of her BP patients have this.

I said, "OMG, my husband always tells me that I run in my sleep, and that I am always kicking the covers off of me at night.

She gave me a medication for it and I took the 1st pill last night and got about 7 solid hrs. of sleep. I am supposed to go up to 2 pills after a week, and then 3 pills after that. She told me that she is able to prescribe it because it is considered a psychiatric medication. I looked it up online and it is used for sexual problems with patients on SSRI's because it causes hypersexuality and has also been studied for BP Depression.

The generic name is pramipexole. The brand name starts with M, but I forgot what it was called.

So I am very hopeful about this medication.

Hear you on the sleep, SunAngel, I get nights like that quite a bit. Can't stay asleep after not enough hours...) Interesting on the RLS. I have that, though it doesn't act up often enough that I'd medicate for it. It's awful when it happens though! I didn't even know one could sleep through it! Can't imagine.
I hope the new med works well for you! (Looked it up and the brand name is Mirapex.)
Thanks for this!

Huh, my husband does that - "running in his sleep" - but he says he doesn't remember it. It's very annoying because he's constantly kicking me when he does that. I doubt he'd medicate for it either, though.

Innerzone, she told me that everyone does awake when they are doing this, but just don't remember waking up.

Hey SunAngel,

I have Restless Legs constantly. I diddle my legs and move them all the time. I was told it was cause I am on Serequol so that is very interesting My bed looks like I have had a party in it every morning as I move around that much. Thank god I do not share my bed with anyone lol! My CPN always enquires and comments on my RL's when I see him every month as some times it is very noticable that I have the diddling going on etc and other times its less noticable

Hey SunAngel,

They just upped my Serequol and gave me the slow release one and that has actually helped, although its still there. I don't bother much that I have it as I have always had it so it doesn't matter much for me to diddle. It's annoying for everyone else though lol!!!
Thanks for this!

I had to stop taking Abilify because of RLS. It was awful. Interesting sleep connection.

I got it (along with something else) so badly on Saphris that is was discontinued after the one dose.

Weird to wake up and not remember, SunAngel -- especially when one does it a lot(!) Lots of sleep things are weird though... complicated stuff... My BF does this weird thing that's mostly his legs where he jerks every 20-30 seconds(??) or so for a spell of time. He has no idea, and it's his one sleep thing I've never told him he does. He grinds his teeth too and can snore on his side. It's a wonder I like being in there, lol!
