Okay, so I know part of the reason I am feeling really exhausted and unmotivated is the fact that I haven't taken thyroid meds like I should have this past month. (Therefore concluding that the 'depression' i have is stemming from it)

However I have a question.

Since I have been medicated, I have not had any suicidal thoughts unless mixed. However, it seems that once or twice a year I get 'symptoms' of depression. I don't feel any different except for the fact that I'm more tired/exhausted easier and have a hard time motivating myself. I don't feel sad, but I don't feel the zeal in life. I just feel average. Would you still class this as depression?? Also sleep more. (Again this could be from the thyroid too)

Could it be that because I don't have any external stimuli that would cause me to feel bad that I could have depression without the emotional aspect of it?

I still take Lithium and Zyprexa which pretty much kills hypomania/any soft-psychotic features that I have.

I wouldn't. Not really. But that's me.
Clarification... when you say "since...medicated", did you mean the thyroid ones, the psych ones, or both? I wasn't totally clear on that.
Take your thyroid meds Sounds like they are a real help!
(Sorry I messed up the quote capture...)

Well my pdoc gave me wellbutrin and I took it for a really short amount of time but decided it wasn't helping anything. I was taking the thyroid meds when she prescribed the wellbutrin because I complained about this.

I initially got diagnosed bipolar w/depression, and I think BPII, but now my doctor says I'm bipolar NOS and she believes I can have full-on mania if I stop taking meds. She told me that she thinks I haven't felt depressed because I've been taking my medications, almost consistently for the past 3 years. Whenever I do start to feel 'depressed' its always accompanied by hypomanic symptoms. I think I attribute this to medication because I heard that mixed episodes happen more when you are medicated. (This could be a blanket statement though)

I've always had problems with sleep though, so maybe that could be the cause of my 'depression'? The zyprexa is supposed to help me sleep but I don't think it works.

I have a friend who has a thyroid problem and she notices changes in her mood if it goes too low. She gets really depressed and doesn't have any energy. Whenever she feels like this, she gets her blood drawn and her thyroid is always out of whack.

I also have a thyroid problem, but I don't notice a change in my mood or energy.

Whenever I get blood drawn, my thyroid is always low and my doctor asks me how I feel before she mentions the thyrood being low. I tell her that I am feeling fine, like I am used to feeling.

She then tells me that my thyroid is low and increases the medication. I don't notice a difference, but I truly believe that I am not paying too much attention to how I am feeling.

So, yeah, it really could be your thyroid that is causing your problems so it is very importent to take your med. on an empty stomach everyday. Just see if you feel better after taking it for a while. xo
