it doesn't affect my work. Uh sure. When I'm hallucinating, or in a mixed state, or etc.... even SHE is saying my belly pain "means more" than my bp symptoms.

Which doctor? Medical doctor? I don't think medical doctors all understand the physical components of mental illness. JMO.

Is the doctor's assessment preventing you from claiming benefits?

This means so much to me because it is true for me too! I can function until I can't. That's what my job doesn't understand. "Sustainable ability to function" are not words that fit a description of me, sadly.

Why can't they understand that bp isn't an all-or-nothing disease. Well, it kind of is. You're either in remission or you're not. You're either hallucinating or you're not. You can go 3 months just fine like everybody else, then the next day you think someone is after you, you can't make any sense of your work or where you are, or you're hearing voices, or your mood is fluctuating wildly, or you are thinking happy thoughts yet sobbing! How can this be conducive with work!?

Exactly! And how am I supposed to know when it's coming or not? I try. But more often than not I think I'm doing great and everything is falling to pieces and I have no idea.

Too often, when you realize its "here" its too late. Kind of like ovulating and trying to get pregnant- by the time you see your temperature is "up", its a day too late. By the time you realize you're manic, its too late. You're being carried along this path. By the time the room starts melting, you can barely go tell a supervisor, nevermind try to work during this. When voices start talking to you, its distracting- to say the least! When I'm in a mixed state, I can hardly stand to be concious!

Run...do not walk...to your pdoc and have him fill out these forms. If your doctor does not support you going on disability and does a crappy job of filling out the forms, you WILL be denied.

It took me two years and a lawyer to undo what a stupid, arrogant doctor did to my Social Security disability application. Don't let her fill out the forms.

I agree. I've seen it. Primary Care Docs will screw that up. Go to the Pdoc. They will fill it out with all the right terminology.
