I was put on Haldol a little over 2 weeks ago .. Not sure if it is really helping me .. so ill admit I havent taken them in 4 days .. My mind races all the time on or off meds .

I guess im just being a typical bipolar person and saying " to hell with meds right now"

My husband isnt too happy he said " why stop taken them if they are working ? My reply was because I dont know if they are or not and its pretty common of bipolars to just stop there meds .. He said well your sense of humor has been coming back , your not isolating like you were .. I can agree to all that ..BUT what if im just not rapid cycling as much but due to my circumstances not just because of a medication .. Im not sure just how fast haldol taken orally works ... I couldnt find it on crazymeds.com or any other site to be honest about how fast it will show signs of working or not .

Im sure ill notice a downward spiral or starting to fly high and ill take it again ,, I just get tired of taking pills

I think ALL psych meds should at least be Pretty and colorful instead of dull white and dull Orange or dull blue colors ... LOL I just think they should look pretty maybe we would all be more inclined to take them .. hehehehe

Hi Morethingswrong,
I wish I could skip mine. My docs have managed to scare me because I take other meds for blood pressure, kidney disease, etc. (long list), so they have me believing I'll drop dead if I miss anything.
I still think the ad meds contributed to some of these other problems, especially after the quick weight gain, so if I could stop all meds, then I could stop ALL meds.
I hope all works out-keep us posted!

I was concidering this recently. I just dont want to end up back in the hospital. I was concidering going off of one at a time bc i just hate the feeling of coming off of meds. Im so confused right now. Im stuck in this nasty depression. I hate that i sit and watch life go on without me. Idk have an appt w psych in a week or so. Hopefully we see eye to eye that my meds just bring me down and i want back to normal. Somethings gotta give or im giving up...

Blue ~Part of the reason i have skipped my med is due to damn weight gain from all the freaking meds we have tried over the last 10 months or so .. I will probably go back on them as soon as i feel the least bit unstable .

Moremi~I think the worst thing is finally finding that right mix meds for right now ,,i think i will always need tweaks on my meds ,, I just get tired of taking the meds ,, i do still take my sleeping meds ,,if i cant sleep i get stupid .

Haldol is used as an intramuscular injection when people are out of control. It works immediately.

Anne~ I take it orally daily 5mg .. since i was a huge failure on all the brand spanking new AP drugs and mood stablizers out there .. I havent had any sideeffects from it ,,I just dont want to take it LOL

My p-doc just perscribed Geodon 80mg and Risperidone 2mg as of last Saturday. These were to be in addition to my 350mg of Lamictal everyday. I have yet to start the new ones due to not wanting to. I've tried Risperidone before but he wanted to try it with this other combo. As for the Geodon I just don't like what info I've found on it. I've just lost 16lbs over the past few months after gaining 30 from these damn meds... end of story.. I called the office on Thursday and asked the nurse to let my p-doc know that I won't be taking them and would rather just ad a small dose of Welbutrin. I should find out Monday what he says but I know me better than they do and I feel this would be a better route to take. BTW although I'm dx Bipolar II (and I am) my biggest issue is Borderline...

Tattoogirl ~I dont feel as numb off haldol ,, thats the hard part i feel ( gasp) Happier ? altho im probably heading towards hypomania.. Im new to this stuff so I honestly dont know now what is me " happy " or me heading into hell ?

I hear you on the weight gain 40 lbs here ( mean ugly face here )
