My pyschiatrist that I met last week was awful. She was rude and condescending. But, today I went in...and she was sympathetic, and kind, and listened. I haven't slept well for a week, I haven't hardly slept at all. And I've had severe panic attacks. She put me on 900mg of lithium at my last appointment.
Today she told me that I have bipolar 1, not bipolar 2, just from hearing about all of my severe hallucinations I've had since I was about 10. She said I could possibly have Schizophrenia as well, and we'll watch it, basically. She prescribed me Seroquel...50mg, one tablet at night. Then up it too 100mg if I need to. She said it should help with my hallucinations, anxiety, and sleep... I really liked her today, and I'm hoping that this is going to help. Anybody have good effects from Seroquel and did it help you sleep? |

Oh this is such good news!!!! I am really happy to hear this.
![]() ![]() ![]() Seroquel does make many people very sleepy, especially when you first start on it. I started with 25mg and was seriously attached to my chair and couldn't move, I was so sedated. But it gradually got better. I have had success at times with seroquel and psychosis, and at other times not so much. I wouldn't worry too much about the possibility of schizophrenia for now, schizoaffective is another possibility, but I wouldn't worry too much. The drugs are pretty much the same, either way. Bipolar 1 can look a lot like schizophrenia, when there is a lot of psychosis presenting. More import to worry about treatment of symptoms at this point. Hopefully now you can get that well needed, deserved sleep! ![]() Ya I didn't think Bipolar II fit, Psychosis is not present with Bipolar II, I am kind of surprised she didn't catch that the first time, but like you said she wasn't really listening to you. Busy day, stressed?? I don't know. Hopefully she will continue to be more attentive. |

I can't wait to sleep tonight. I am literally so excited to finally sleep for the first time in the last few weeks. She said it should help with anxiety and stuff as well, so I'm looking forward to seeing if it will help me mentally and physically rest tonight.
I hope it stops my hallucinations and paranoia. |

She was like laughing and being laid back, and so comforting. She was like, I'm so sorry you're going through this.
I was like, omg. Maybe she's bipolar. LOL. |

When I first got dx'd as bipolar, my pdoc threw me on everything at once. Now, I'm having to go back one at a time and figure out what works. Seroquel helped me sleep.

Maybe so, Anika.
I'm hoping that Seroquel helps me a lot, because I need some peace and quiet...and sleep, and relief from my anxiety. I'm crossing my fingers for good results. And hopefully I'll stop being paranoid and hallucinating. |
