My Klonopin and Lithium were ready and only cost $22. I was SOOO excited. Then my Lactimal orange starter kit was ready for me today. $348!! like seriously? is it just because its the starter kit, or is it always this expensive! i have a coupon thing i found online that says it will take 80% off of the kit but im not really sure if it will work or not. i wish my insurance would just cover this stuff ughh

Can you take the generic for Lactimal? (lamotrigine)

Even the generic is expensive, but no, it's not nearly as bad as that. I got 60 200mg tabs and the pharmacy quoted me something close to $200. I don't remember the exact #, sorry, cause I didn't have to pay for it. But if you check with your insurance co, they might cover the generic. At least, it's worth a phone call.

Wow! Are you near the Canadian border? My lamotrigine is only about 70/month before insurance. I take 200 mg/day. Even my brand name Wellbutrin XL is ony like 50 bucks per month before insurance. I'm lucky I have both insurance and provincial drug care help. I thought I was paying too much!
Those prices are disgusting! How do you live?? Call doctor and chew them out. What a jerk. Doctors here ask about what your coverage is before prescribing expensive drugs. |

Lamotrigine costs me $1.97/month for 30 tabs of 150mg. It's my cheapest prescription. If I didn't have insurance coverage, it would still cost me under $20. It might be worth "shopping around" for other options. I don't know what the rules are on prescription pricing, though.
Starter kits are brand name and super-expensive. You should be able to get the necessary small increment doses in separate prescriptions at much lower cost - it's just more nuisance for the doc to write up and for you to keep straight. It did not cost me anything near as much as that for me to get started.

I too am on the generic. Before it became available in generic, I used to get it from Canadadrugs.com.
