Mixed episodes suck. But I'm feeling a lot better. I went to the PER on Friday afternoon because of sui thoughts and because I was about to actually do something to myself and I needed a place to be safe. It was the county hospital and surprisingly enough they have a five-day intensive program that's very small and designed to set you up with coping skills and a lot of one-on-one sessions, and they help find you job resources and stuff and set you up with your meds when you get out, and the entire visit was free.

Apparently there are only two hospitals in all of Texas that do this, one in Houston and one in Fort Worth where I am. I wasn't even aware MHMR sponsored something like this. I was really pleasantly surprised, for a hospital stay it was fairly nice and peaceful.

Anyway, they tweaked my meds some, I'm taking Risperdal instead of Abilify now and Trazodone for sleep and the rest stayed the same. I'm reading up on side effects I need to watch for and taking it easy. Boyfriend took me out for a sushi lunch when he picked me up, and now I'm at home and, well, on PC.

I hope everyone else is doing well.

Nacht,

I'm sorry, I must have missed this thread somehow. That program sounds great, too bad not more widely available. I am really glad you went, and that you stayed safe.

I hope this is really going to help, I know you've been going through a rough time. I hope this can help with the stress you've been feeling with the job related stuff too. Fingers crossed that the new meds do their job. And let us know how you are doing ok?

Good job!!! I'm proud of you!

I'll let you know how I'm doing from time to time, I am trying to get into a support group and therapy as I have neither right now and I think that it would really help. I also really hope the new meds work out in the long term, I am already feeling more like myself on the Risperdal, no akathisia or anything, so that is helpful too.

Thank you everyone, for your well wishes. I'm already feeling a lot better so I think the visit was beneficial, definitely.
