So 2 years ago I got a tattoo on my back of a tiger lilly ( the meaning is quite beatiful) it's surrounded by stars and twirly whirly things. Nice colours and girly, big but my plan is to have my back done completly by 30 ( no one will see it in work dress). So now I'm planning a tattoo on my foot. The words : one day at a time and the 2 faces ( one happi one sad) sure there is a proper name for them. Only doing this July so maybe I'll get over it! Don't regret the first though! Anyone with a tattoo they did during a manic episode?????

I do not have tattoos, but it sounds from this post and others that you first need to slow down and then make non-impulsive plans if you still want tattoos at that time. I think you diagnose yourself correctly, you just need treatment now.

Yes. I have. I have quite a few tattoos. Some done while manic, and yes I regret them a bit. I'm actually planning on having a few covered. These were also from my younger years. Really nothing too bad. Just not what I want and wished I had not done this while in extremes. Honestly tho, I have a ring of stitches around my neck, not manic when choosing that. So although I might think they are not so bad, others might. I have one on my face, it's tiny but still. Agh well... I would make sure and give it time.

i was probably a little manic when i got my tat but i had thought about it for a loooong time (like 20 years) so it had great meaning & symbolism for me. i have no regrets & always meant to get it but this past christmas was an important anniversary for me & i was running a bit charged & just did it.

it's on my forearm & i have no regrets at all. i don't work so no worries about that being an issue.

i would wait until you in a calmer state just because it is something permanent & not a temporary thing.

now that it is getting warmer & short sleeve time people are just beginning to see it & i am getting quite a few comments on it..i am probably the last person in the world anyone would ever expect to have a tat...& since it is just a word people ask about it...so it is interesting... i don't feel the need for another. but i am very pleased with this one...does kind of make me the rebel amongst my friends.

Yes, I was and I don't mind that. Sure, I don't like the tattoo but, why be bothered by it? It reminds me of some great times!

I have two. One I got in a location against the advice of the lady doing the tat. (She was right, I regret the location.) The second I got covers a quarter of my back and is only visible in my swimsuit. (It's Bugs Bunny, with "What's up Doc?" under the picture.) I do not regret Bugs, altho he did come out quite a bit larger than I expected. I think it was the ears.

I do not recall if I was full fledged manic, or just hypo and on Vicodin for pain. I do know Vicodin was involved, and that I felt great and up both times. I was going to get a third, until I found out the bible frowns on body art. There's always my next manic episode, tho...

Yes, I have the 7 deadly sins down my back in Japanese (Kanji). No regrets, I wanted another tattoo, but I know I could've gotten it for much less had I not been in such a hurry.

I have a bunch of tattoos. They're a drug to me. I got a few of them while manic, a few while either drunk or under the influence --- but there's only one I can say I really regret. I wasn't really pleased with some of them, but over time, they grew to have more meaning to me. I guess I equate them with an experience? Like a moment in time?

Anyway. What I would do if you think this is totally mania talking is make yourself wait a day or two. Just try not to think about it, try to out it out of your mind for right now. In a few days, if the desire to do it is still really strong, then go for it. I don't want you to do something you would eventually regret.

It is like they are just memories of time. Someone my tattoos although I don't like them now are a piece of mu history, if you go through my tattoos it certainly tells a story. I've always felt conflicted about wanting to change them but knowing it's part of my past and how I got here. There is one tho that I have decided needs to be covered with something else. It's highly visible and for me it isn't part of my past that I will ever forget, but it's part of my past that I don't need to be reminded of on a daily basis.

I hope your tattoo turns out great! It is exciting. I am one of those who is somewhat addicted. I love the rush and I also enjoy the feeling of getting it done. I can't wait to finally get mine covered. My bf has none and he is pretty weary o me getting more. He has a hard time with change tho.

I designed all of my tattoos, so they are also my art work, I guess that's something I don't ever feel regrets about.

Personally I would go through with doing something so permanent while I was obviously so manic. I have part of a tattoo, not a good story it involves a stake knife, lemon juice and an abusive step father so I wont tell the story. But its not the abuse that I regret the most it's the fact that if I wasn't manic at the time I wouldn't have done it and I wouldn't have this permanent reminder.

Think it through.

I ended up getting two tattoo's on impulse...manic....on my forearm and the side of my neck I love both tattoo's, but in my line of work I have to cover them up. Before you get the tattoo just make sure it is what you want and your certain about the area. That way there's no regrets Good luck

I've had to sit on my hands so often when being manic to stop myself getting tattoos. I did get one- my partner was livid!! I just wish I could've waited and got a better design- it's ok but not perfect!

Haha thanks, not close to a tat shop, so even if I wanted it now, I'd have to wait. The wait is about 2 hours drive ( maybe a good thing)
