Zyprexa is working for me.
Tones down my manic cycles and helps alot with my PTSD (nervous, feeling unsafe in my home, anxiety associated), but it's EXPENSIVE.

I'm now on 10mg of the generic and it's costing me $530/month with insurance

Because of this, I may not be able to take this any more.
I'm on lithium/lamicatal currently.

Any alternates to zyprexa? I don't want to start a new med, zyprexa I have been taking for only a few months - but financially, I have to explore other options.

Any options/suggestions? NO serequil, that stuff makes me non functional in the AM.

Thanks
Nick

You pay how much? Oh my god. That's about as much as I pay for my one bedroom apartment. Did you accidentally add a zero? How could that be!

Risperdal? I don't kno where you live but generic risperdal is cheap here, as is generic seroquel and lots of coffee!

Let your Pdoc know what your medication is costing you .. regardless of it working for you or not ... there are other cheaper medications out there that can work for you.

Good luck

Cocoabeans, believe it or not my cost for 35 mg of Zyprexa a day for 30 days was about 640$ in Canada no less. It's unbelievable.

Are you in the US? Is there coupons or discounts available? I know even on PC here there is a medication discount program I believe.

This is a recent thread on this forum with some links that could be helpful for you.

Ask your pdoc if there is a program available thru the manufacturer to get the drug free or at a discounted price. The makers of Vioxx gave it to me free for two years because I could not pay the outrageous price.

You can also call the manufacturer directly and ask them if they have a program.

It only costs me about $40 a month with insurance... I think Lilly has outlived its patent and so generic olanzapine should be on the market soon.

I used to take Zyprexa but now I take Risperdal. Also there are patient assistance programs that help me get the medication at a reduced rate (for me it's free).
