There is a magazine in print and online called "bphope" that printed the following article:
http://www.bphope.com/Item.aspx/941/...-with-the-past Note that there are similar articles listed that you can read excerpts from as well. I found them triggering and disheartening in a magazine that has a byline "hope and harmony for people with bipolar". They've never put anything like that in the magazine and if it angers you, I encourage you to write to the editor or reply in the "Discussions" section of the "Forum" where they ask for feedback. What do you think about it? |

Honestly, I thought, is it 1955 again? Wow thats a lot of talk about mothers, makes me wonder if fathers exist.
I understand that these situations do happen, this is real life. This article seemed focused on mothers instead of parents. If they are trying to offer hope they could have balanced it out with some success stories as well. ![]() |

This actually is in the latest magazine (I got a free subscription.) I agree that the focus on mothers rather than parents in general is one-sided and ill advised, but it cannot be denied that untreated or inadequately treated parents have a huge effect. In my opinion, this article focused on recovery from that effect. I didn't have a problem with it.

It is said an Eastern monarch once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence, to be ever in view, and which should be true and appropriate in all times and situations. They presented him the words: "And this, too, shall pass away." How much it expresses! How chastening in the hour of pride! How consoling in the depths of affliction! ---"Address before the Wisconsin State Agricultural Society". Abraham Lincoln Online. Milwaukee, Wisconsin. September 30, 1859. |
