So....I had my PDoc appt yesterday morning.....I finally lit into him about how tired I really was....he kind of nods at me and smiles and I just knew he wasnt getting it....so in my xray diva style I told him if he writes me another script for thyroid medication that is really starting to resemble sugar cubes that him and I were going to have a go around in his office....
FINALLY HE HEARS ME!!! lol.......I told him that the tiredness is not just a "boy I sure am tired today" its more of a "boy I sure am tired every f'n day, all day, for no reason and its ruining my life and you keep giving me these stupid pills that dont work". He prescribed me Provigil which is given to people who have shift work sleep disorder. I'm working midnights tonight and he told me I could go ahead and take it, and so far I am still wide awake......has anyone ever taken Provigil (Modanfil)? Any luck, anything bad? I'm new to this drug, but am really hoping it helps.....I feel like I am sleeping my life away and that does not help depression at all! Wish me luck everyone....

Luck to you, xraydiva! I've not taken it, so can't comment on that, but I hope it does good things for you.
Thanks for this!

I had a nursing home resident who was given Provigil every morning so she could stay awake during the day. It worked, and she was just about the most cheerful little gal you could ever hope to meet. Before she started on it, she'd been just a slug....she thrived on the stuff.

I'm hoping to try it for my day time sleepiness (falling asleep while sitting up and teaching!) when I get to my GP next month. Let me know how it works for you, and what I can expect, please.

Well Buggs.....I def feel an improvement, but, being the flighty human that I am, I havent quite figured out the half life of my sleepy meds so the two are currently locked into a battle lol...I took the Provigil this morning about 7am and its now about 1:30pm and its starting to win over the sleepy pill (I take 2mg of cyproheptad at night for sleep and havent quite gotten the hang of the time to take it yet...) Its funny though, I feel a definite mood improvement though...dont know if its the med, or in my mind because Im so hopeful that this is going to work....Best of luck to you though....the only thing I noticed from it was a headache so make sure you are packin Tylenol...other than that, all good!! Have a great day!
