Has anyone else noticed this? I've been drinking a lot of coffee to help me cope with finals, and I feel almost normal, maybe even a little hypo. I've been depressed for weeks.

Does caffeine have antidepressant effects for anyone else? I read in another thread that it makes some people anxious; is this the case for you, or do you find it a useful weapon in your depression fighting arsenal?

Caffeine has multiple affects on my mind depending on my current state. If I'm manic I can become very manic but when I'm depressed it’s helpful in a kind of soothing way very hard for me to explain. Sometime caffeine will help me stay awake but not necessarily being active more like being able to sit up, watch TV and enjoy it. Working when depressed drinking caffeine or what have you just makes my stomach hurt more (normally my stomach pain is from the anxieties, stress or tension)

I'll tell you this I really enjoy coffee and tea when I'm manic I found it to be one of my recognizable symptoms that I am manic. But when I'm depressed or moderately depressed I find coffee and tea soothing when not dealing with stress.

Really depends on the mood and how the day is going. Sometimes I get really bad anxiety on it were my hands shack and my neck gets tense. then other times I can function just fine on caffeine

I have noticed that it makes me feel less depressed and more cheerful. It also keeps me awake, so I have to cut off in the afternoon - which might explain something.... Without my caffeine, I become a grumpy "get these dang dishes done before I strangle someone" after dinner person. I'm not usually a grumpy person, so I wonder if it's the caff. worn off side effect, or just the depression returning??? Hm. Food for thought.
