I ahve dealt with bipolar disorder for ten years. My symptoms are in check, but my mood has been deppressed for most of that time. Will it ever end?

Has meditation ever really helped someone? I have practiced for some time now w/ little benefit to my mood.

I just started meditation, and I've found it is helping me. My suggestion: find a local meditation workshop or intro class if you can. That'll help with the basics. Then, there are tons of free guided meditation podcasts in the iTunes store that I've found very helpful.

Meditation is like any other skill -- you have to practice, practice, practice.

Hang in there. I hope you'll find some inner peace soon.

I still get really depressed even though I am on medication. Meditation has really helped with my negative thinking patterns. The negative thinking made the depression much worse. Now the symptoms are more manageable. I am not so suicidal.

Since I started Seroquel 9 years ago I stay on the depressive side, but it has stopped the severe ups and downs that I spent all of my life dealing with. I miss the ups "the euphoria" but it was short lived and went into agitation and irritability. Then the down side the severe depression was horrible. So I am flat and on the depression side, but it is much better than before I was medicated. Before seroquel, the other meds were only mildly sucessful. Adding it to my cocktail, made all the difference for me. It took eight years of med adjustments to find the right mix.
