About a year ago, my ex-therapist (a male) made sexual advances toward me in three separate sessions. I stopped seeing him, got a new (female) therapist and filed a complaint against him with the licensing board. I have been doing much better with the new T.
Now, in three weeks I must face ex-T in a hearing to determine whether he keeps his license. He is, as is predictable, lying about me saying that I am desperate, unstable mentally, and am the one that made all the moves. Having this all come up is reopening old wounds and I am turning into a wreck. The thought of seeing him again turns my stomach literally. Any advice?

I would talk to your new T and see what she says. It may come down to a he said, she said. I would stick to your guns and keep saying what he did exactly and if you can remember the dates, then even better. If you wrote about it, then bring it to court. Also, ask if you talked about it with your T, then ask her to come to testify. It's not going to be easy. Being sexually assaulted is wrong and going to be hard to prove. Sounds like your old T is trying to save himself.

You are so strong to be able to stand up to this awful person. You are brave to face him again. He is going to lie to try and discredit you. But we believe you! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I suspect he's done the same thing to other clients, too. I applaud you for your stand. And, as someone said, I would talk to your current T about it. I wish more clients who go through something like that would speak up.
