Not sure how long a person can go without sleeping. I have taken everything under the sun to try and sleep. I think I dosed off for a half hour last time I tried, but I am absolutely wide awake and feel refreshed like I have just had the best night of sleep. Hmmm.... I know what this means I guess. Now that I come to think of it. I didnt eat at all yesterday. Not hungry either. How weird it is that our bodies can just go without things that usually are so manditory to function and yet I function better without them at these times.

I have gone just about 4 1/2 nights or so without any sleep whatsoever. Mainly 'cause my mind is in overdrive, and just won't allow me to sleep. It happens during my hypomanic cycles/modes. I enjoy this 'up' time.
However, by this time, my body is a physical wreck. My arthritis is in hyperdrive, my hands become locked up, and a lot of my time is spent at the kitchen sink, one side is filled with ice water, the other is filled with hot, or at least as the faucet will allow. To try and ease the pain, I switch my hands between the two sinks. My eyes have a hard time being able to focus, it's almost like seeing cross-eyed, and/or double, even triple at times. The cramps in my legs are of the double type, there are cramps within the cramps. Cramps roam throughout various parts of my body-shoulders, hips, feet, toes, ribs, stomach. I realize that I MUST get some sleep due to my body pains, it is then, and ONLY then, that I'll reach for my prescription sleeping aid. That is Chlorpromazine 100mg, which is generic Thorazine. This is what was prescribed for me when I described all the symptoms above to the pdoc I had at the time.
