I know this is a common issue and has probably been discussed often, but being somewhat new the forum, I just wanted to get people's thoughts. Have any men had luck with relieving some of the sexual side effects of antidepressants? Prozac has lowered my libido and caused some other side effects, and I have not had any luck with adding Wellbutrin, Mirapex, or Amantadine. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I can't really offer advice on how to help here, only that I have tried many an SSRI and all of them have killed my sex drive. I did Welbutrin alone for 2 years and that ended up not being enough. Lexapro was added and it slowly killed my sex drive. After 5 years of the Lexapro/Welburtion combo, I had almost zero desire for sex and it hindered my marriage which is in the process of ending (not because of that alone, many other issues).

So I'd be interested to see if others have had success with any other combos. I've also been on Paxil, Prozac and at least one other SSRI. All had the same effect on my sex drive. I've been med free for about 8 months and that isn't going so well. Going to be seeing a pdoc and therapist shortly and getting some advice on meds that work and don't kill your sex drive would be great.

Thanks for your thoughts on this, Robert. Yeah, I know what you mean. I've been on many, many AD's over the last 4 or 5 years trying to find one that works, and every one of them has killed my sex drive and/or caused orgasm problems. Wellbutrin was the only one that didn't, but it was not enough for depression by itself. I think it's just a trade off - I'd rather feel well mentally and deal with the side effects than feel depressed.
