Reading recent posts, I have discovered that some people lose weight on Wellbutrin, some even on Prozac, some on Topomax... what else? I want to know the list.

Looking to cheat and do it without strenuous exercise. I am sure it won't work that way for me .

Any stimulant will make you lose weight, but that's usually not a good idea especially for bipolar.

Depakote can cause a lot of weight gain, as well as lithium.

You lose more weight from your diet then exercise.

Those medications work because they can potentially suppress your appetite. You lose weight from eating less.

Dark_Heart has been writing really good and helpful hints on restructuring diet. Diet's don't work. You have to restructure your eating habits so they are kept long-term. Portion control and giving up processed drinks (like soda/coffee/juice/gatorade) is probably the sure-fire way. Increasing water-intake should help.

You also need to make sure your thyroid is working. If you have hypothyroid and it isn't controlled you won't lose weight no matter how hard you try. ;p

My appetite is REALLY supressed on Wellbutrin. Lost 1.5kg since I doubled my dose 5 days ago. No-NOT advocating this. I can only lose a few more kg before I need to be careful

I found that weight loss occurred for me with both Prozac and Geodon. One or both seemed to have had an effect on my metabolism, because I have a large appetite and it was not suppressed at all, so something else was causing me to lose weight rapidly while on those meds. Prozac seemed to be the big one for me that caused the weight loss.

Appetite suppression would work for me, because I already eat only healthful foods, so all I need is eating less of them.

Wellbutrin destroyed my appetite. I finally stopped taking it a few weeks ago. Not enjoying food is so sad! I've been so happy getting all my favourite foods back, so, I only lost about 5 lbs on wellbutrin but, I was supposed to be gaining about 8!

I don't know about giving up coffee advice, it has like no calories on its own and as a stimulant would speed up metabolism and supress appetite and besides, it is super yummy!
