Is there a medicine recommended?
I realize that in addition to suffering from lows and states of severe depression.. i also have states of mania and extreme mania. Sometimes I feel like I have a greater purpose.. and i'm "better" than alot of people.. sometimes i am focused on so many things at once i lose control of my thoughts. someetimes it feels like my mind is going 1000 mph, and i start to slip slowly after. the fall down into depression is what really kills me. knowing that i will most likely feel depressed in the next few days. |

There are several good mood stabilizers out there, but the gold standard is Lithium, if you can tolerate it. Another good one is Lamotrigine, generic for Lamictal. I take Trileptal, and have for years, so in general, it all depends on what your psych doc likes to use, and what side effects you are willing to put up with.
If you are having mood swings, definitely find yourself a psychiatrist to talk to about them.

Buggs is right check into it because there is alot of help out there and alot of different medications that can be of help. For the record for me Lithium has been a life saver. I love the stuff despite a side effect. But definatly check into it.

My wife takes Lamictal; it has done a very good job at stabilizing her moods.
