Trazodone stopped working for me as a sleeping aid, and my p-doc prescribed Temazepam. I took it last night for the first time. It worked. It worked better than Trazodone had been working - I did not wake up in the middle of the night. But Trazodone originally worked extremely well, too. I am afraid this thing will eventually stop working and I will run out of sleep aids. The natural supereffective soporific, orgasms, is not accessible to me because of a nasty side effect to Geodon.

I cannot function if underslept.

Is anyone on Temazepam? For how long, at what dosage, with what success, how many hours of sleep does it give you?

I was on temazepam 20mg for 3 years it began well I'd sleep a full 8 hours but after a few months of taking it I became dependant and tolerant of it I'd still sleep but I'd wake up to 8 times anight after years of this I saw my doctor and asked to be put on zopiclone instead but that doesn't work so I've given up on sleeping tablets. Hopefully it will last and work longer for you I wish you well

its a benzodiazepine.
it was prescribed to me in the early years of my medication taking career.
it did work.
but it IS a benzo to you will eventually build up a tolerance AND a dependence on it.

Dont worry tho, there are MANY other sleep aids out there. you will still have options.
if its working for you now, Don't sweat it!

my question is, how are you feeling otherwise without trazodone?
its an antidepressant.

I only took it as needed which was only about once or twice a month so I never built up a tolerance to it. Now I take a low dose of serquel prn for sleep. I usually only take it if heading for a mania.

So far so good. I took 15mg and it gave me 6 hours of sleep. Doctor said "double up", I did and now I have ~9 hours of sleep which is what I want.

Dependency is not an issue for me - I had been on Klonopin for year and then easily came off within a week without any symptoms. I just do not get addicted to substances.

Tolerance is a big concern - that same Klonopin did nothing for me in terms of sleep - it was like a pop of Aspirin. I am afraid to get to that state with this drug. So it is good to know that there are others out there. In the meantime, I will enjoy my temporary solution.

I was on Seroquel for well over a year and recently switched AAP's so getting to sleep became a huge issue for me because the Seroquel made sleeping a total non issue. Temazepam took Seroquel's place as I needed something to get to sleep.

I've been on it for over a month and it's worked quite well up until now. Tolerance doesn't seem to be an issue. 15 mg has worked every time. I'm also not knocked out 12-14 hours as I was on Seroquel and am not feeling hungover.

It's provided me with an ample amount of sleep with each use thus far.
