Umm, I got into a car accident about 3 weeks ago and I am still freaking out. This teenager with 2 passengers ran a stop sign and crashed into me. There is nothing like that feeling that you just have to let it happen and you can't do a damn thing about it. I thought I was going to die.

This accident has pushed me into not sleeping, I am in pain, and went manic because of the lack of sleep. I keep having flashbacks of the accident and feeling that scary feeling that you can't avoid getting smashed into.

My pdoc put me on a blood pressure med. that was just studied and it is a great med for PTSD.

I have only been on it for about 4 days and am at the lowest dose.

Sorry, I needed to vent about this.

I am just freaking out.

I hope you weren't seriously injured, Sun Angel.

The memory of that is going to stay with you for many years, but it will fade gradually and you will think about it less and less.

There is going to be, no doubt, some court action to take place, and you may be called to testify. If you were injured, please see a lawyer and follow his directions. (Don't worry; they'll be sending you mail by the bags full to get your case.)

If the high bloood pressure pill isn't adequate, please ask your doctor for an additional supplement when court time comes. It is obviously a cut-and-dry case since the teenagers went through a red light, and you needn't worry. You'll be led gently by your attorney through all of it.

Remember that it will fade gradually in your memory.

Take care.

Genetic

My sister got me an attorney the next day after the accident. He is helping me with this case. He is my BIL's friend and he is a very good lawyer.

Thanks to those who replied. I appreciate it more than you know.

Good that you're not seriously injured.

I love that feeling like it's happening and you can't do a damn thing about it, why? That lack of control is your mortality. Accepting it and accepting your own mortality eases anxiety. You are going to die. You may become seriously ill or injured one day and there is nothing you or anyone else can do about it. Accept this and you will be at peace.

I used to just sit and think about my body as a rotting corpse and imagine everyone I knew and loved as the same. I was a strange kid...and at first it is freaky but there is peace in this knowledge.

Obviously that doesn't mean don't take care of yourself.

I like Shay's advice SunAngel. All you have to do is take it moment by moment and we're here for you. And yes everything will be alright.

It isn't really that funny. It's more like "exposure therapy" and an entirely logical thing to do.

I like your perspective, cocoa... Too many people live in fear of the world around them. You can either stress or you can accept the energies at hand.

Exactly, it's counterintuitive sure but, having been crazy, I know intuition isn't all it's cracked up to be.

A sense of realism is needed. One can either choose fear after an accident or choose to accept that accidents happen and move forward. Some things are simply beyond our control. Luckily, how we cope isn't.

SunAngel, I encourage you to use descriptive subject lines on your future threads. I have opened your thread completely by happenstance. Had I known you have been in a collision, I would have definitely opened the thread. I feel that you would have gotten more responses had you used the words "car crash" or "accident" or "collision" in your subject line. The way you titled your thread is nondescript.
Thanks for this!

I think this is an interesting point. A lot of people on the board going through a lot lately. And your post almost got lost in the shuffle, you've been in crisis and needing support!

Hopefully getting more support here now? How are you doing?
