......well, that's how I think of it, anyway. I've been seeing my pdoc every 2-3 weeks for the past six months, then went a month between appointments this last time. Now he says I'm stable enough that he doesn't need to see me for THREE MONTHS!!

Seriously, I love the guy to death, but those co-pays have been killing me. I got more than my money's worth today though---I was in there for over an hour, some of it just BS'ing (the man cans his own blackberry jam and makes apple butter!) and planning for how to get through the winter without nose-diving into my usual winter depression. Now all I need is a light box or a dawn simulator, I need to stay on my meds and start exercising, and I should be OK this year. Go me!!

Good stuff, you can always make an earlier appointment if you get depressed enough to need more or different meds.
Thanks for this!

You know, for the first time in my life I am really proactive about this---I've had some rough patches, and I hollered for help. That is SO unlike me; usually I've got to have one foot in the grave before I'll go in for bronchitis or pneumonia, but when the fecal matter collides with the rotary ventilating system in the mental-health arena, I'm on the phone with my pdoc. In fact, I've gotten good enough at recognizing when I'm decompensating that I usually call BEFORE things get out of control.

That is really really awesome news, I am very excited for you!!

I think you can do it! Winter will be a challenge, but a challenge that is worth it. If you decided on a light box let us know how it goes. I've been considering one for a long time, but I do worry about over lighting myself into full blown mania, I tend to get very manic when overexposed to light. End of summer I am usually a massive mess, this year I tried to limit my light intake, and am doing ok. I'm up but I'm not out of control.

And calling BEFORE things are out of control is a good thing! Good work BipolaRNurse... woohooo!!!!
Thanks for this!
