I had my ssi hearing 3 weeks ago and while waiting to hear the decision my landlord got me a one time cleaning job at her friends house. Now this woman comes and goes every so often she actually lives in another state. I was sent a check and the key. I took the job sight unseen. Well let me tell ya it was a three person job! She had the power off and left the fridge full of food! Can we say magets? It was horrible. The house was a disaster every room. I couldnt get it all done. I feel I earned my money with what I did do. BUT! I still did offer to come back and work on it some more.she wont return my phone calls! I know she is upset with me. I did my best. I feel guilty anyway and now afraid my landlord is mad at me because she got me the work to help me. I dont want this to turn into a depressive episode. Im headed that way. Any words of wisdom?

Have you tried talking to your landlord to let her know how things went? Maybe under the guise even of (since you offered) asking her to help you get in touch with this person to set up a time to go back? That way, at least your LL will know you care- and she will know just how bad it was there?!
What a horrid position. And during a brief period I had to clean houses for a living... I know what you can end up being stuck with! That is the only idea I have, but maybe someone else will have something better. And yes, I think you already earned more than your money, more than likely. |
