What a shizzy week it has been.

This was my third full week back on the job after my 5 weeks of FMLA/short-term disability.

* It was time for annual raises and I got zero.

* I've been given two projects that I suppose are for me to prove myself worthy of working there, and I'm so not worthy. I'm struggling with them and they have ordered co-workers NOT to help me.

* I'm incredibly bored at work.

* Today another project came my way. This one has a very tight deadline. I have to write 104 short articles about techy stuff, and they must be done by next Friday. I piddled around today and wrote 5 of them. Now I'll have to write approximately 20 per day next week, which seems totally impossible to me at this point.

Time to spend another evening crying.

I'm back to feeling hopeless, even though my psychiatrist doubled the Wellbutrin a few days ago.

I suppose I should stop whining and do some more work on marketing my services so I can continue to build my freelance clientele and get out of that job.

A friend from Australia (I'm in the US) referred someone to me this week and she wants me to proof a book she is writing.

That gave me a little ray of hope and made me feel like there is someone out there who actually believes in me.

Today is dark, cold, and rainy where I live. Not cool.

I hate this time of year because SAD kicks in.

you are so lucky to have an actual writing job. can you do some this weekend and get ahead of the game? screw the raise, it's not like you're some people and have it calc'ed out for your last retirement penny. I hate those people, and yes I totally messed one over and he hates me forever now, but a) he should have known better and 2. he was some society muckety-muck, so like i'm going to cry for him? I don't think so. what was the 3rd - oh ywah, the coworkers. they told mine to not even talk to me. that sucked. but I did get pretty nuts (different place from the society guy tho).

This isn't actually a writing job. I just said "articles" to make it easier for people to understand. It's a technical writer job that I applied for and got hired for without having a technical writing background. My background is journalism and creative writing.

Technical writing sucks. It's more like trying to understand the info sent over by the programmers and then turn it into something the users can understand, and then put it into XML (which is kind of like html, but different -- although both are over my head).

It is sucking the creativity right out of me.

I have no desire to do the work over the weekend. I am exhausted. If I don't use this weekend to rest, I will be an even bigger blob of depression and frustration when I return to work Monday morning.

PD I will be brief because I hate using the phone but it's my only way to connect to the internet. I am noticing that you spelled techy rather than techie. In silicon valley where I live the accepted spelling is techie. Your writing on this board is always flawless from the standpoint of style, grammar, spelling, and punctuation (I notice such things) so I do not know what to think: did you make your first mistake or is there an alternative spelling I am not aware of?

I, too, cannot explain the difference between XML and HTML so you have my full sympathy
Thanks for this!

I do believe that must have been my first mistake. Ever.
