Dr wants me to start Straterra to get me to focus. I've had ADHD all my life but never wanted meds. Now I think I need some. Can't focus on one single thing for more than 5 min. More meds though????

I was diagnosed at 43 with ADD. I was on Zoloft 100mg before the ADD DX. After I started the Adderall, I knew I did not need the anti-depressant. I weened off of the Zoloft and have not needed them since. Having ADD for all your life can really wreck the self-esteem and many ADDer's get DX'd with depression before the ADD is ever discovered.

Don't fear the ADD meds... They really affect you in the opposite way you would think.

I take both Concerta and Prozac. Those two work very well together for me. If you're concerned, you can talk to your doctor or a pharmacist about the interactions between the two.

I too was dx'ed late in life. The add started during a particularly bad depression and never went away. I don't take anitdepressants but i do take an anti-psychotic and an add drug called guanfacine, brand name tenex.

For me, there are no side effects. The med started working in three days. Before I took the med I couldn't read a sentence without getting lost. Now I can read just fine.
