I only have a few days left to get my grades up to passing, and I just cannot seem to stay focused or concentrate on my work..

Any advice?

  • Focus on one thing at a time
  • Break work up into smaller chunks
  • Take frequent breaks
Thanks for this!

How do you stay focused?
I don't. I realise that I am being extremely unhelpful, but I have the same problem. Most of the time I have GREAT difficulty concentrating. I often find my mind wandering in a thousand directions and sometimes I just feel like my brain recieves data but is unable to analyze it There are, however, times when my mind is suddenly crystal clear and I usually try to catch up with things in these periods. It's not a foolproof way, but it seems to be the only thing that works for me. Trouble is I get panic attacks if I try too hard to learn stuff when I can't.

I feel the same exact way .. except I don't get panic attacks.
I'm litterally failing every class I'm taking right now because I can't seem to stay on track and keep myself focused..

You should also get enough sleep - lack of sleep leads to lack of concentration.

That could be a problem too. I've been having issues sleeping lately. it takes me forever to fall asleep & no matter what time I end up actually falling asleep, I always wake up at like 8 or 9. every single day for the past month or so.

Get in a quiet place first. I always found the library at the university a quiet place to calm myself and get focused for study.

Take time to clear your mind of unnecessary ideas that are unrelated to what you are going to study or write or think. When your mind is calm, then go after the
focus you need free from interruptions.

My best to you.

Adderall. It is the only thing that gets me to focus. Wish I had known about it when I was in college and I might have graduated with more than just average grades. If not Adderall, as was previously mentioned, break it down into small, manageble chunks so that it does not seem too overwhelming.

Use handwritten notes - you need to activate the hand-brain connection. Write down THREE (not thirty three, three) most important things you need to do next and go through them, crossing them out as you complete them. Done? Write down the next three things. The buffer should not contain more than three things, ideally.
