I am going to the psychologist in Tuesday, and I don't know what to expect. I really want to know what will happen when I go, what some of the things they will ask me are going to be, and just everything in general. I would really like to know what will happen when I am in there. Could someone explain it for me? Because I would like to be prepared, I think things will go smoother if I am.

If this is your first time, then the psychologist is probably going to ask you some pretty generic questions. The first and foremost is probably going to be why you are there in the first place. Your best bet there is to just answer as honestly as you can, they will be able to help you the best if you are honest. Are you going because you've been depressed? Agitated? Angry? Problems at home? Feeling overwhelmed? Where you victim to some sort of trauma? Remember, if you were the victim of some sort of trauma, you should tell the psychologist, but if you don't want to talk about it yet, you don't have to. What types of questions you are asked after that will depend on what you are seeing them for in the first place.

They also often ask what you want to get out of therapy.

Good luck!

My psychologist finished my intake asked why Psychosis was in my intake. Asked why I was there. Asked if I ever had any consequences to my behavior. Was really confused that I didn't know what consequences, delusions and hallucinations where. She was also confused that I had no idea when symptoms started. She asked what my goals where and tried to explain a mood/event/thought chart to me. I really think that I frustrated her at first.

Haha, at least she can't tell you to leave or anything since it's her job.
