The past month, the pain level in my back was a steady 3-4, avoided painkillers, and generally ignored it. Yesterday I woke up with a surprize 7, took some asprin at work and was sO busy I didnt have time to acknowledge it. Lastnight, up to now (5pm) its a steady 8 1/2. I've been popping pills every 2hrs or so, with only minor relief, I cant even think clearly or articulate verbally, its as if the pain is scrambling my thoughtsBeen trying to distract myself posting.no worries, just wanted to complain.

Hi,

I take pain pills because I have 3 ruptured discs in my lower back. The Dr. checks my liver enzymes each year to check for damage from the aspirin in the percocet. Be careful because upping the dosage on many OTC pain pills is really hard on your liver.

I hope you feel better. I also use heating pads and biofreeze brand pain lotion.

Tripping, I wish you were a california court certified translator from my native language! I need someone who is really knowledgeable about obscenities. Specifically, obscenities. Ha!

About the pain: from what I know, there are different strengths of NSAIDs, and I think Celebrex is the strongest and Ibuprofen is the weakest, but you cannot take Celebrex for many days in a row because of some bad things that it does - I do not remember what they are. Have you tried Celebrex or is it too expensive to try?

No Hammy, will have to ask about Celebrex. I generally wait until the pain is a solid 7 before I take anything, and noticed this happens around once a month for about 3 days... Dr's are a waste of time and money, I doubt anyone except my gp believes me. I will ask my sister if she can get me something stronger than the ibuprofen and asprin I've been ingesting since April... Wish I could be your official translator, but alas I'm only fluent in English and Afrikaans obscenities

Does your back pain spike around your period?

I read that if pain is worse around period you need to see an ob/gyn and not a general practioner.

Massages would probably help. n.n

Thanks Hammy, will check that out in a moment. Confused, uhm, I dont get such lady problems, havent since 2005... The back pain is daily, low grade to moderate, then every couple of weeks I'll piss my pants for a few days when it hits 'severe'...

Haha, uhm, technically, yes I'm underweight, but I dont get a period bcoz I choose not to. I use an injectable contraceptive that has made it dissapear, and I keep using it for that very reason

Oh then you are like me - I am on Mirena for this reason. Solely for this reason. I do not plan on having more kids and I could have done sterilization, but I prefer the no-period life on Mirena IUD.

Yip, this choice wins hands down! Its a no brainer, only wished I had discovered it sooner. In the bus now, my vertebrae feels like its cracking its gonna be lonnnnng a.s.s.s.s day! Will ask my sister if her gp will prescribe me celebrex, or if he has better ideas than the quacks I've seen. I'm at that point where pain is normality... This is not good, it shouldnt have to be part of my norm.

Well I do not know if you have legal medicinal pot, but if you do, I would try that before Celebrex - Celebrex has side effects and you cannot use it for more than N days.

No, I dont have that, but could get an illegal stash pretty easily... Altho I dont have any inclination to incorporate pot back into my life. Maybe I should take up drinking a stiff shot of whiskey or 2 a day. Ugh, just messing about, I have no idea WHAT i'm going to do. The medical route seems so futile, unless I have bucks to spend on 'real' doctors, and it would mean missing more work.Neither is optional atm.Maybe I can see a real doc in Feb,once Christmas, Jordan's bday and 2013 school is taken care of

Lia

I don't know about medicinal cannabis in South Africa either. But the authorities were once seen standing down wind of the field they were burning. Does that count as legal?

As far as obscenities go, the most colourful language I have ever heard has come from Afrikaans speaking people from Cape Town. I don't think any translation would ever be able to capture the essence of what is meant LOL.

Grog is dangerous, especially when you live in the heart of wine country. Whiskey? Hmmm. An alternative to jet fuel, but if it floats your boat...

Hope the pain gets relief soon, my friend.

(hug)
