I don't feel coherent. I can't read, can't concentrate, can't focus enough to understand English, every thing's to loud, and it makes me feel stupid! It's been like this forever!! It's to the point I don't even know if I'm sleeping or just laying down and waiting for someone to get up so I can. It's not the meds I was like this before. I don't want to feel stupid, confused and antisocial.

This took me over an hour to write

You should see about having a neuropysch test to make sure you don't have something like early-onset Alzheimers, especially if you've been like this for years.

That's how I felt over the weekend.... I literally couldn't sit down to watch TV or read or.... anything! I felt like my mind was going in a thousand different directions at once.

I had to take 0.5mg of Xanax just to calm down...... Not fun. I haven't been like that in a LONG time. I'm hoping it's just the stress of life getting to me....

Sigh

I agree w/ LucyG....seek medical follow up. I have BP1 too and experience problems focusing and reading. My symptoms are not daily. Good luck

Wow, Mom! That is a lot to have to deal with! I am so sorry this is happening to you. If it's not the meds, have you talked to your psych about this? I feel similar things at times and it is extremely frustrating. I will have a long list of things to do in one day and I can only accomplish one. You are clearly NOT stupid. It feels that way, though, I know. Hang in there!

I did recently start a new med but this has been at least since early October and I've had times like this before. I'm only 28 and this has been and on & off thing since I remember. Is got to the point again that my husband is putting blinders on me so I can pay attention to his lips when he talks. He said I'm not yet to the point that I'm talking like I'm drunk but that'll come soon. I think I may ask T for more testing.

Yeah please talk to your T about this. Sadly enough many medical problems can get over looked for years. I'm sorry you are having all this trouble. I hope you find a solution very soon.

Just to let you know, this post in and of itself is coherent. There are a couple of minor typos, but nothing the forum etiquette would not forgive.

You are not stupid MM, I respect everything you say very much. You always have great advice. So I understand how confused it must feel to have stuff not make sense, or is sensory overload

But I am worried about you, hope this is not something serious. And hope you get everything checked out and can feel better.

I feel this way alot, MM. I forget words, I forget how to write letters. I can't read. I can't concentrate. It scares the hell out of me when it happens. I don't know what it is either, since I just restarted lithium only a week ago, I was like this before.

You've very young for this to be happening, and I would be willing to bet money that you either are experiencing a side-effect from meds, some sort of food allergy that causes brain fog, or do you have anything like fibromyalgia that has cognitive issues that go with it.

Google [name of med], side-effect, cognitive problems or something like that and see what comes up.

Pay close attention to when this happens to see if maybe you've eaten something different that might be contributing to it. Lots of hidden food allergies are so subtle they don't make you sick per se, they just cause things like brain fog, bloating, a runny noise and the like that are chalked up to other things. You might eliminate wheat, rye, oats, barley and dairy products from your diet for a week and see if that helps.

Thank-you guys. My T mentioned fibromyalgia to me when we first met. She told me I shouldn't automatically discount physical issues. I'll see if I can get tested for allergies. My insurance doesn't cover Nero-psychologists . So after I talk to T I'll start this mess. I just got over (I think) a medical mess. I don't really want to start a new one but seems I'll have to.

I hope that it isn't Fibro ! Its a life changing illness.. I cant handle Noise or too bright lights natural or lightbulbs and lots of other stuff. I am not certain if its the BP or the Fibro.. But the body overreacting to every stimulation can be Fibro

Food allergies are hard to test for sometimes, unlike testing for allergies to other things like pollens. There are also sensitivities that can create just as much trouble, which are not true allergies. Your body might not always react exactly the same each time you are exposed to it. Sometimes lots, and long lasting ( weeks ) sometimes very subtle, sometimes you don't notice. We hear food allergy and think rash, or tummy problems, this is def not always the case.

When your T mentioned Fibro, why did she mention it? Can you think of any other symptoms, small, large, anything at all? I think you should talk to a physician about this instead of your T, or both. But a T cannot do much, actually nothing to rule out anything physical.

If I told you the symptoms I have been dealing with for my whole life, you would be shocked that even tho I had been seeing dr's my whole life, only recently have they found the causes.

I hope you see a dr about this stuff, just to be safe, and because you need help with whatever is causing this.

I know you are very dedicated about the management of your MI, so while it is not fun ..yup I know, the management of your physical health is just as important.

Also you have an Ed similar to me. Long term? That could have a place in this as well.
