I have, once. I don't want to go there if it is going to bother people though. If you have experienced something similar... and are curious about what happened to me, let me know and I will post it.

I want to know if anyone out there is as profoundly impacted by their mentally ill person dreams as I am. I'd be happy to relate my story, but I don't want to accidentally trigger anyone. Please let me know.

I did die in my dreams. QUite a few times.

Generally I have very bizzare dreams. Or dreams that have bit of reality in them, but it's somehow "wrong". LIke i am in my room on dorm and somebody installed air conditioning that takes most of the room (yes, it sounds funny, but it's not funny in the dream for somebody who is claustrophobic).

(and today I dreamt Romney won election. And woke up crying lol, I am that far gone).

I, too, have died in my dreams ... And contrary to popular myth, I've lived to tell the tale ...

Yes, and still posting on a forum, too. That would actually make a great story!

I also have fallen and died in dreams. I fell to the bottom of a pit, watching the sky get smaller above me. My spirit raised up and there was the other me standing there, glowing in the dark. She lead me around the dark cave. That's all i really remember, I was still a little girl when I dreamed it.

I also have very weird dreams. Very real dreams, very vivid. And very, very weird.

Once I dreamed my husband and I were on a long journey. We had to meet the king of birds at the top of a tall tower/tree thing. We had to grow wings in our arms to fly up to the top. The landscape was beautiful. There was a lot of singing and happy bird type people all over the place. A lot of gold and green in the landscape....

One night...

I dreamed I was in a plane, strapped into a sideways-facing harness inside the inner fuselage of a C-130 military aircraft (to be exact). We were flying in a huge cargo-carrying airplane, with four big big propeller engines on the wings, and this big metal structure that made up the skeleton. And it was so ****ing noisy, and windy, and very real. My Dad, my Uncle Paul, and their boss Jackson were all in the cockpit area, though no one was sitting in the pilot's seat, I then noticed.

The nose of the plane began to pitch down, and then the engine noise stopped. There was nothing but the sound of the wind through the massive aircraft. Because the plane was crashing.

They were arguing, shouting, panicking. They grabbed at controls, as the plane pitched into a steep dive towards the ground below.

The ground below.

It was my valley, my childhood home, it had all the little roads and Poppler trees next to our driveway. I saw it down there, a little greenish dot, out of the cockpit windshield. getting larger every second. I saw the ground getting closer, and feeling myself strapped in, no where to go, nothing I can do.

I was at peace with the realization that I was about to die.

I watched them panic, then it was happening. They were afraid. They knew it too. We were all going to die now.

The bulkheads from the nose of the plane forward compressed rapidly as the energy of our decent crumpled the aircraft against the ground within a fraction of a second. I watched the metal come at me, the whole thing, jagged hunks of fractured plane, it all came right at me, and slammed into me, and for a split second, there was a recognition that my body was being smashed, blown apart, destroyed.

I felt it, PAIN, then, I was dead.

There was darkness. But I still had an essence. Something of me existed beyond the total destruction of my body.

I heard a noise.

It was the sound of a huge sum of voices, all harmonizing a buzzing or humming sort of note together.

And it was getting louder.

And coming from beneath me

And headed towards my head

And as it got closer

I felt it start to take me over.

I awoke gasping for breath, in a torrential sweat, as though I had just been running. To this day, I have no explanation, and have never had another dream like it.

I have had a recurring dream that has me falling off a building to a crowded street. However I never hit the ground, I fall asleep before I hit the ground. The "dream" is usually right before I pass out, I mean literally right before, a min or less before I hit that deep sleep.

I have a dream where I turn into some kinda of zombie creation, tho it's more like there is plant material sporing on me. And then Someone close to me tells me the are going to turn me in, and leaves me there alone to die.

I don't really like that dream, usually it involves watching my family die first and having to walk over them and leave them, and then dies a lone. No idea what that's about.

I have a lot of other recurring dreams where I die heinous deaths, I won't go into to it hear, but my dreams are usually very graphic and movie like. I had night terror when I was a child, I am not sure if some of it stems from that.

Weirdest dream, hmm I can't post it here. I don't even feel comfortable talking about it, I am still traumatized I think.

I don't recall ever dying in my dreams.

The weirdest dream I ever had was where I woke up in bed in the dream, the electricity was off, my parents were not in the house, and outside there wasn't a single sound or light. It was like the world was totally deserted. Then, I dreamt of waking up in bed AGAIN ... and the exact same events happened. This went on about FIVE TIMES IN A ROW!!! My heart was hammering when I finally woke up from the dream and the lights worked!!!

I have not ever died in my dreams, but what was happening to me should have killed me.

I had a dream where I was in front of a military style firing squad with my back to the wall. I looked at the soldiers and realized they were all my friends. Ready, Aim, FIRE!

I looked down and saw the bullet holes, but I was just standing there wondering what was next. With friends like that, who needs enemies, right?

My dreams are usually in the nightmare catagory. Yes, I've died countless times. Sometimes demons kill me, sometimes its a crazy dude with a knife, once it was midget aliens who reminded me of Lord of the flies children. I'm the violent one on occasion too, but those are not as often as me being hacked to peaces. I'm a lucid dreamer, and will myself to wake up when or before I die, but when I have dreams within dreams, within dreams, which is VERY often, its hard to wake up, so I die.

Dead people also visit in my dreams, family members and neighbours have given messages to me to pass on, once this guy had me write a four page letter!Turns out it was my friends bioligical dad,and the letter was an apology for being absent, and info about her trustfund turns out he died the night I wrote the letter. Saw a picture of him before I gave her the letter, and suddenly it made sense. It wasnt a random dude. So, if dead people talk in my dreams, maybe demons really do try to kill me...

I also am a lucid dreamer ... I also dream in color ... I've had many strange, wonderful dreams, as well as many night terrors that helped me process things going on in my life that were too difficult to face in real time ... However, my best dream ever (even though I'm still trying to figure it all out) occurred back in the mid 90's and went like this ...

I'm in a park jogging ... For once, I'm perfectly healthy and fit and am enjoying how the running feels as the air fills my lungs completely ... Three paths merge into one ahead of me ... As I approach the merge, three beautiful women come from the other two paths (two from the left, and one from the right) and end up jogging in front of me ... I'm busy thinking about how pretty they are and how lucky I am that they ended up in front of me, when suddenly we all veer from the path and head up a grassy hill where there is a very handsome and fit man grilling burgers on a grill under this huge green leafy oak tree ...

The sky is the most vivid blue ... The clouds, white & fluffy like marshmallows, a gentle breeze rustling ... The three ladies and I gather around the griller and start talking to him ... He's dressed in white spandex workout clothes ... Shorts & Tank ... Which accent his musculature right nicely ... Good tan too ... And, as I'm reaching into the cooler for my drink I can't help but feel awesome how I've ended up hanging out with three beautiful women and such a handsome man ...

I get my drink and as I'm standing back up can't help but notice the pronounced "package" this man has inside his shorts ... My eyes slowly move up from there, taking in fully his whole torso ... how fit and well built he is ... Finally they land upon his face and OMG! it's Arnold Frickin' Schwarzenegger (I CHIT YOU NOT!) ... And, I'm like WOW, what is he doing in my dream ... ?!?!?

So anyway, me and him and the three women are gathered around while he's grilling the burgers and we're enjoying our beverages and all of us are laughing and talking and having a good time ... Arnold flips one of the burgers over on the grill with the spatula ... As he does this a voice booms from the sky ... "BEEF! ... It's what real people are eating!" ... I look over at Arnold and he sticks the spatula inside his shorts, Scratches his package with it in two quick up and down strokes as he winks at me ... !!!

I scrunch up my face and proclaim loudly W - T - F ... ?!?!? ... Not only in my dream, but in real life too as I sit bolt upright in bed ... Where Kalico Kate (my cat) has run to the end of the bed and is jumping off into the floor while looking back at me with her own WTF wide eyed (and perturbed for disturbing her rest) expression ... !!!

Holy @#$%! ... Still trying to figure that one out ... ... !!!
Thanks for this!

Some seriously awesome (and I mean AWEsome) dreams here. Thanks to everyone so much who shared a part of themselves. I know these areas can be deep and traumatic for some. They have been for me. I shared only what I thought would be a good example of a severe and vivid nightmare, suitable for public rendition. Truth be told, I have had others that genuinely FRIGHTEN me more, and caused me to fear for my life in a way I'm sure something hunted must feel. It's an area, for me, that has DEEP and daunting emotional implications, and often times these severe nightmares can begin depressive cycles. Or occur during them, amplifying symptoms dramatically.

Again, you are so brave for sharing. Thanks everyone. It makes me feel better to know so many others out there have similar dreams, or deal with their depression through their dreams, as I often believe I do.

One of my most recurring themes in a dream is that I cannot run very fast unless I am very low to the ground. Like, I lean all the way forward (like on a motorcycle,) put my arms behind me and run like I'm almost flat on the ground. And then, I can jump very, very high and float, not fly. I can also spin around very fast and float in the air. It's like I have a different relationship with gravity than anyone else in my dreams.

I also have a lot of very scary dreams concerning bad things happening to my kids or my husband. I hate those dreams.

I hate the "I can't go fast enough or move at all" type dreams. VERY FRUSTRATING. Especially when you are trying to outrun a big animal.

Yes, when I am not leaning down to run I move like I'm in syrup. It's very weird.

I thought of another recurring theme in my dreams is high school. I tend to go back to high school a lot. But, the school is not the school I went to. But, it's always the same school. And it's always haunted, or under attack, or some other crazy thing that makes no sense. With lots of towers and mazes. I don't know why I go back to high school. It's weird.
