I would like to start a new topic that I call, "success stories". We constantly hear a lot about people who are suffering from bipolar and their struggles. I thought it would be nice to have a few postings from people who have had success with dealing with this disease. People who have worked really hard thru therapy, medication, support from others and such and who have succeeded in getting the illness under control. It would be nice to hear from those who were able to turn their lives around by winnning this tough battle. It's important for all of us to remember that we are not alone in this struggle and that there is hope for recovery!

My son suffered from a manic episode in May 2004. It seemed to come from out of the blue. We got him on medication (zyprexa) and he stayed on it for a year. He has now been medication free for over a year and seems to be doing really well. He holds down a full time job and lives with his girlfriend. We hope this continues. There are happy ending stories.
