I have been listening to this song for five days http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...v=BdWEbweX1rQ#!. I have been drinking liquor every day sometimes seven a.m. I am totally failing at everything I am responsible for. I am coming off of a rather pleasant manic high that lasted about six weeks. How can I get out of this funk? lost lonely and depressed...

1. Stop drinking alcohol. It makes depression worse.
(I think you've posted on the addiction forum, as well, and those folks have some excellent advice to assist you with removing alcohol from your diet.)

There are things to read, too, that are helpful. If you feel you need that, get back in touch and I'll give you the names of several.

2. The songs that you listen to may have an influence on feelings, as well. Try something that is light-hearted and pleasant to listen to rather than the "get the world off my shoulders" point of view. (That's just my opinion, of course.) Or try to listen to some classical music that is appealing to you. That gives you greater freedom of feeling tone than popular music does, generally.

3. Watch your diet; make sure you're getting plenty of sleep, and try to reduce some of the stress in your life, please.

I hope you feel much better soon. Knowing that alcohol makes bipolar illness worse may persuade you to give it up. It really can be harmful--it kills brain cells just as surely as narcotics do.

Those are some reasons to pull away from the tug of sadness and alcohol use.
Thanks for this!

ha! I remember as a child my uncles listening to this song many many years ago, singing along to it - I finally get it.
