Truck runs great! Really like it. Does real well off-road too

Got the DUI paperwork in the mail today. Being charged with the following violations:

-DUI General Impairment 1st Offense
-DUI Highest BAC .16+ 1st Offense
-Disregard Traffic Lane
-Driving at Safe Speed
-Careless Driving
-Fail to use safety belt- driver and vehicle occupant

Well I got one of em beat. I was wearing my seat belt and had no occupants, so that one is bogus. The others, well its everything my pessimistic side could think up and more. Looks like I bit off more than I can chew on this one. Time to lawyer up and see where it takes me.
I really don't want to go to prison, but its lookin like I might have to.

Oh well, live and learn.

Hope y'all are doin well this weekend

Hey Miner .. Sounds like you do indeed have a bit of a mess on your hands. Glad you are okay and no one else was hurt. Yep time to lawyer up and go thru the paces. Hope it can be fixed with things that don't include prison/jail time !

Hang in there Buddy

Hang in there bud I doubt seriously you'll get jail time I had careless driving got in an accident and was a .23 and I didn't go to jail for more than a day so don't worry about it to much I'm sure it'll work out well. Just keep your head up.

Hey Manicminer (P), one month before my 50th bday I got ticket for careless/reckless driving,
was given a court date on the spot. Five weeks away. No mailin' this one in...
It was for speeding, never gotten a ticket or been in ANY trouble.
Lawyer got it reduced to within a "speeding ticket" range. Wasn't cheap but so worth it to use atty.
INS never knew about need for "legalities" & premiums didn't go up.

All that to say is with an atty you might get off with a fine, maybe driving school & maybe community service. Don't go thinking right off the bat you'll have to serve some jail time. Your ins co shouldn't get any info about this until legal stuff is finalized. Please try not to worry, let atty do the work.
No one got hurt, you've still got a job, got a new truck, time for big boy briefs. AND as an unrelated bonus you're courtin' a new lady.

Hang in there, keep us posted.
Thanks for this!

I'm not really worried about it, but the standard penalty for 1st offense DUI with .16+ BAC is minimum 72 consecutive hours in jail, and the gentleman I talked to who had the same sitatuation, minus the wreck, did his 72

What state were you in?

I agree an attorney is the way to go. Hope the judge is lenient since this is your first offense.

Good ol' Pennsylvania. We have a tiered system based on BAC and prior offenses, and I'm in the highest bracket.

The atty. called back today to say that he had gotten my paperwork and had a chance to review it. But I was already underground for the start of my shift and didnt get the message until after his office had closed for the day. Callin him back first thing in the morning. The anticipation is killing me.
