I've been really depressed lately...Isolating, getting weepy for no reason, sleeping too much, etc. (most of you know the score where depression is concerned). This has been dragging on for almost two months & I'm getting pretty desperate to get some relief.
In any event, I've recently decreased my seroquel by half & stopped taking zyprexa altogether, thinking this might provide some relief from my depression. Does anyone know the correlation between anti-psychotics & depression? While I know I stand the risk of speeding up, a little hypo would be welcome relief right now. I see my pdoc this week & I hesitate to tell her that I've altered my dosages without her approval. I'm also afraid she'll petition me & force hospitalization because my symptoms have worsened the past two months (hospitalization, in my experience, is just the warehousing of humans). Anyways, I'm just rambling. In short, I'm just wondering if anti-psychotics can worsen the symptoms of depression. My logic is that if they prevent speeding up, they slow you down even more than simple depression. Advice? Experiences? |

Sorry your feeling like depression is a destination. I would bet most everyone has fiddled with there meds at some time or another,( guilty as charged here) so dont feel bad about it.
As far as someone forcing you to go inpatient well that really depends.. To force someone into the hospital you need to be a harm to yourself or others. As far as Depression goes I "think" it really depends on your ability to function and if your safe. Hopefully you can talk to your doctor and figure out a treatment plan that will work for you. Good Luck ![]()

Abilify is supposed to even help. Others are supposed to be neutral. I think the best combo is some AD + AP.

Thanks, Hamster. Those were going to be my suggestions for my pdoc...An AD & abilify as a activator/AP. I've been on abilify before, but had some side-effects. I'm willing to tolerate those if it dulls this damned depression. I just have to be careful, as AD's have triggered mania before.
