I went to the pdoc recently and he started me on several different meds all at once ...

*Abilify
*Lamictal
*Prozac

Now I'm having some weird symptoms and I can't figure out which ones are causing *what*! I was hoping some of you might have some experience with some of these meds and could help me out in figuring which ones I might have to drop or not.

What I've noticed in the last few days or so is my back is aching like mad. Now I normally have back pain but this is totally different than what I am used to. I can't seem to sit still or get comfortable ... I'm always adjusting myself and fidgeting, irritably. I just don't feel well. I'm hot, but have no fever.

Worth mentioning: I'm pretty good with meds, my body doesn't usually have side effects, and when I do ... they are mild and go away quickly in most cases.

Help?!

To me it seems like a weird version of akathisia, so definitely Abilify is the likely culprit.

In general, starting on many meds at once is NOT a good maneuver.

I've had a lot of side effects with lamictal but that doesn't sound like any of them, so I *think* you might be safe crossing that one off the list. It's not generally considered one that causes many issues. That said, I did have some muscle aches and general not-feeling well at the beginning (so tired), but the location of the muscle aching wasn't quite as specific as you are saying for me. (Dont you hate how hard it is to figure this out when they all get added in at once? I'm going through this right now too - my p-doc added in four at once to try to stabilize me and I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out what is causing what!)

I would eliminate Prozac and Abilify, because in general Lamictal is the most innocuous of the three. If all is well on Lamictal, add Prozac, etc.

Yeah, it's not a cool idea to start so many meds at once. Perhaps two but not three. Getting the right therapy is all about taking it in steps.

From personal experience, prozac made me extremely fidgety. I couldn't ever stop shaking my legs -- they were going 100mph 24/7.

I agree take one at a time for about a week and ten add one and see which one causes te trouble long process but its the best way to find out which one is doing it.

That is ... the BEST FREAKING ADVICE I've heard in like, a century. I wish you guys were my doctors.

I think he was desperate to fix me because *I* was desperate for fixin'. What makes me curious is why my husbands symptoms went away and mine stayed when taking away Abilify. Its only been one day, but it stopped for *him*! I am going to talk to doc on Monday abt this and just stop the prozac today as well. Its only been 3 weeks. If I can work it back in I guess I will.

Sad abt the abilify, I was so hoping it wouldnt be that or the prozac. Abilify works wonders in conjunction with cymbalta (which is the only antidepressant that ever worked for me, but pooped out after 6 months) and the prozac is amazing for my sister, who is *just* like me in almost every way, shape, and form. Both have the same diagnosis, too. Oh well.

I would see my pdoc and request that you stop all the meds and start one at a time. It's not really practical to compare yourself to others when it comes to medications and how they work or not when it comes to others. Our bodys chemistry is unique.

Good luck, I hope you are able to find a medication that will help you

Oh man. I would HAAATTEEE to start over at this point. At least the Lamictal, I've heard that stuff takes ages and ages to work. I have waited *desperately* for years for something to work for me, it might not seem like much in comparison when you figure I'm only losing 3 weeks but any single day is an eternity when you don't feel well. It's a good idea though.

I do realize the risks of what I'm doing, but I stopped taking the prozac yesterday, too. Today is the first day in abt a week that I dont feel like crawling out of my skin. I know there could be withdrawals but I was only taking the abilify and prozac for a few weeks so I figured the symptoms of the withdrawal couldnt possibly be worse than the god awful symptoms I was having from taking them.

I do understand also that my body chem is unique, but if we NEVER went by what anyone else said abt the meds working for *them*... then on that note, nobody would be taking *anything* right now!

Thanks guys. I mean it, waiting until Monday seemed like an eternity. I feel better already.
