So,there's a zillion beaches here, and I have my haunts but on Sunday we went to 1 I dont haunt, coz the water's icy,but there it was, clear as daylight, A SHIPWRECK! So now I'm like 'why, when did that happen' so I did some digging. Its a Turkish cargo ship, that was grounded the day after my brother died. And obviously I've been pretty much avoiding news since then so my ignorance makes sense, but still, its 30min away http://ediblemince.blogspot.com/2009...ecked-off.html

You should see what it looks like now tho, really old, there was a huge fire and some oil spilling, but also read that it improved conditions for surfers... It was supposed to be removed by now, but will only be gone winter next year, apparantly its gonna cost like R40 MIL, wonder who's paying? Me or the Turks...

Thanks Jamesy I do miss him. He would have loved the wreck, he loved adventure, probably would've organised a boat and permission from the right friends so we could take a looksy You're right, I'm here now, and here could be much worse hey... Just seems so surreal that I missed something so big, under my nose did I just dismiss it when it was mentioned? It must have been mentioned in conversation at some point! Wow, my brain is a strange thing...

amazing feature alright! But not great for marine life, altho we had our first Great White sighting on that beach a few weeks ago, coz its generally too cold for them, they usually prefer the same beaches I do... Who knows, maybe jaws was just curious...

Hey Trippin,
I am glad that James found the link. I had tried it earlier. Wow, what emotions you must have had when discovering this ship, and how it correlated with losing your brother!

When reading the article, it was a "wow" event for me, because I can't imagine having enough nooks and crannies at our beaches to discover something like this. From all of you, I learn so much about how others experience our world. It is not on my bucket list to travel the world, I get very sad being too far away from my comfort zone, but I love learning about all that is out there from you!

Our most famous shipwreck here is the pirate Blackbeard's ship. Also, the ship that had been used in movies such as Mutiny on the Bounty and Pirates of the Caribbean just sank off of our coast with the recent hurricane. Rather sad because the captain went down with his ship.

Just read a book where Mutiny on the Bounty was a parallel storyline I love pirate stories, I research them till I'm dizzy! Very selfish hurricane that was, wreaked more than enough havoc without stealing the damn ship!

Hey Trippin,

I'm really envious that you get to live by the sea
And how great to find a shipwreck!

such a hungry ocean...so daring are those that go beyond the land where the feet don't touch the sand!

that was a shame that ship...

there are about 3 million shipwrecks some under the sea most are under the sea...some elsewhere...
OMG look what I missed

so many souls...!

it's interesting with death at sea?...people suddenly become 'lost souls'...of the deep...

humans unbelievable as usual!...why didn't they just stay on the land where it's so much safer?...

"lets build these magnificent wind and mechanical machines and defy the glory and fury of the GIANT water!"

unbelievable?.....!

now humans have evolved and defy the glory and fury of the GIANT skies...with somewhat more success...still unbelievable

Lol, when I was little, I thought everyone lived by the sea coz there's shoreline all the way round Haha, I was an idiot! But atleast I grew up to appreciate my surroundings, and yip, the wreck is quite cool indeed
Thanks for this!
