So I am getting a new phone this week, and originally, we had agreed (my parents and I) that I could get it on Wednesday.

Well, my dad called me into their room and said we can't do it Wednesday because it's my mom's birthday. Well, my mom said she didn't mind, and we had nothing planned, so she said it was just fine. My dad just lost it. He was like, "You're just catering to others, it's your day, not hers". And my mom got this expression that said "Wtf?!". We kind of looked at each other like "why is he getting so upset?"

Well, he said we'd get it Thursday morning, but I told him I need it Wednesday, because I work Thursday and I want to learn how it works and get it all set up before I have to go to work. Well, he called me selfish and my mom was just like "Jeeze" because he was overreacting so much. So he was finally like "Fine, I'm going to sleep." And when I left, I heard them arguing.

I don't know how to handle that. He got so angry, for no apparent reason. He isn't planning anything for her, he never does anything like that. He can't cook either, so nothing's going on and I would normally feel badly and agree to it, but my mom really does not care. I know she doesn't, I know how she acts when she does care, and she legitimately does not care.

What should I do?

I would just go a different day if you can. Cook for your mom or make her a cake whatever she wants. That way your dad doesn't throw it in your face later.

My dad is taking me to get it tonight instead. Which, I have no complaints about, because I'm getting it earlier than I had originally thought. So it all worked out. Thanks!
