Not sure if i spelled it right as i dont have the script yet but my doctor just called and is putting me on a med called prestique to help with my depression. Im am soooo scared of trying new meds because of my last expierences with them so i was wondering if anyone knows anything about this drug and if it has helped them or made them worse? Any information would help. Im not sure what dosage he is putting me on yet either but he did say i would only be taking one every other day. Plz if you know anything im begging for a response!

I had severe vision problems: eye pain, couldn't focus, blurred vision. I took only a few doses. Think I had some sort of allergy.

No lasting problems once I stopped.

Thanks roadie. Did you have to take it everyday or once every other day..just wondering. I fear and am absloulty terrified of new meds..almost every medication ive been on have suffered from bad side affects...i even had severe side affects from a side affect blocker lol..how ironic just wondering..i really dislike the thought of trying something new but because of my last therapy appointment with my counselor and my doc seeing my chart has decided i need something else along with the neurontin i take.

Pristiq?

I've taken Effexor, which is a lot like Pristiq. If you end up liking pristiq but can't afford it then it's a possibility that generic effexor would work just as well.

Pristiq is an SNRI like Effexor and Cymbalta, which means it has a significant effect on Norepinephrine as well as Serotonin. They are just like SSRI's (if that is what you have experience with), save a stronger affect on the norepinephrine.

Just wondering if you have taken abilify and if thats anything like it? I was on abilify and zoloft together that caused me to hallicunate and lose reality for two months before realizing it was meds causing it as i thought i was posessed by demons. That was a very traumatic time for me and is mainly my fear in taking new meds as i never want to go through that again. I would be taking 50mg of prestiq once every other day and 600mg neurontin 3xa day

I think a certain amount of side effects are to be expected ... Minor stuff.. Certainly NOT Hallucinations... Research the medication online before you take it, that way you will know the common side effects.

Seems to me your on a pretty high dose of Neurontin.. Is it 600mg 3 times a day? ..Or a total of 600mg per day?? .... I take 300mg total per day, I refuse to take more since it can cause weight gain.

Good luck

Pristiq is an antidepressant, not an antipsychotic. It is more or less the same thing as effexor, although I think it is supposed to have fewer side effect issues, maybe fewer withdrawal issues.

I took it for quite awhile with no problems at all, and when I did come off of it I had no withdrawal issues like I had with effexor.
Thanks for this!

Sorry, no experience with either. However, I can't blame you for being so hesitant about taking a new drug!!
Thanks for this!

Thanks for the reply. I will look it up and have my fiance read about it as well to know what to look out for when i start taking it. Ive had it now for a few days and have been scared to start as im super paranoid about starting new meds. I do take a high dose of neurontin..600 mg 3x a day ..a total of 1800mg a day. It has caused me to gain weight and i dont like that at all but its one of the only meds ive taken thats been some help to me. Maybe the prestiq will counteract that side affect thanks again
