I'm 15 and my Bipolar brother is 22. He went into hospital because of it a while ago and is doing so much better now I really don't want to jinx it. But...
I really want to understand. We're really close and I'd like him to think we can still talk about anything, although whenever a friend or relative brings up his illness he gets really embarrassed. I asked my mum and all she could say was that he 'went through a tough time'. I don't want to pressure him, but I feel he's getting distant from me and I don't want that. What should I do? Also, he lives in England while I live in Scotland and we don't see each other very often anymore. Thanks for reading, an opinions are appreciated. I hope this is in the right place. ![]() |

Let him approach you when he feel comfortable enough to talk about it. If you try and push the issue he's liable to get angry and distance himself from you.

Hey there,
Wow you are a good sibling. I myself have 2 siblings me being the only one who has Bipolar. I find it very hard to talk openly to them. You can read info online if you want to try a general knowledge, then talk to your Brother about something you have read. How about setting a night aside and skyping him? Maybe see if you can pop down to see him for holiday's? Do you think your Brother would be ok with that? |

Just let him know... you love him and will always be there for him.
