How do you tell your spouse or significant other how you feel? I struggle with this and often times I cant describe how or what I feel

I have trouble with this because in my life I was shot down when expressing myself. So my emotions just tend to leak out and I try to put them into words, but it doesn't always work. I tend to not say when I'm having trouble, and when I do, I tend to expect nothing out of it.

Had a spouse that kinda freaked when I'd say how I felt. Darn "normals". I tend to over tell how I'm feeling. Just works, I guess. Hmmm...I am divorced :/
Thanks for this!

I try to preface all that I am going to share with, "none of this is your fault, I love you, but if I dont share I am going to burst," and then I regurgitate all of my emotions right on the floor. We often cry together, then work together to create an action plan. He is my best friend.

My T suggests drawing how I feel. For myself - for her. I have not started that yet though. She does art therapy.

No, you do not need skills for that kind of drawing. Art therapy does not require skill. Maybe use color?

My husband has bipolar so I could talk the jargon and he gets it but, I'm a talker. I onced talked for two days straight before the man told me to either shut up or if I couldn't get professional help or he'd have to leave! He said it nicer than that of course. If I feel like it, And I have! I could talk gibberish for an hour because that's how I feel! Of course I'm not that way with just anyone, got to trust and respect the person or I clam up, my mind is wiped clean and I couldn't even think to myself what to say!

What is stopped you from expressing yourself?

My Husband may ask me how I feel but he hopes I say " im fine" and I do even if I'm not .. The only place I can be completly honest is here and to my T .. I do not expect anyone to understand me and Bipolar.
