It worked really fast for my husband. Within a day or two. It worked really well really fast, and then after that is when it started to work less well as time went on. He said after that initial boost he always felt he was "chasing the feeling" he had right at the start.
![]() He was on 10 mg once a day when it worked really well. Later he went up to 20mg once a day, but never wanted to go higher. The first time he was on it he lost 25 lbs, but not the second time (first time was 3 years ago, second time was just last fall.)

Adderall worked within 30 minutes for me. I take the Non-XR type 20mg three times a day, usually. My dosage has not changed in almost 4 years.
I was very over weight, but had lost 40 lbs before my ADD diagnosis, and lost another 50 afterwards. I discovered exercise helped as much as the Adderall and have kept the weight off for 3 years. |

You might like Regular Adderall better. The non-XR Adderall is faster acting than the XR. I need the jolt in the morning. Also, some people need more than 60mg per day. I'm prescribed 90mg per day, but usually take about 60mg.
Also... If Adderall does not seem to help, there are other meds to try. The meds are different for everyone. Only about 10% of us ADDer's cannot find a med that helps. You should give the 60mg a couple of days. There are factors that can render the meds almost useless, like extreme stress and sleep deprivation. |

You should tell your doctor if you cannot feel the 60mg kick in. You might need another type of stimulant. When you find the right dosage/medication, you will know it.

could it be because I still have racing thoughts from my bi-polar illness and they are negating the effects?

Bi-Polar and ADD have a lot of similar symptoms, but from what I understand ADD meds don't work if you are Bi-Polar. I could be totally wrong, but that is what I've been told before.
I would ask your doctor about this. |
