I saw him last Monday. He put me on Geodon and told me to eat a LITTLE something with it. Well then the pharmacist told me that I would need to eat 500 calories when I take it for the best absorption. I have had weight loss surgery and I can't eat that much. I called and left a message and he never responded.

Now I'm back to feeling like I'm in a mixed state, frustrated, agitated, irritated, and I have no new meds to take to help me out of it. I've tried being super nice but I'm ready to call and leave a nasty message for him today. I'm tired of this. He should return phone calls. I should not have to wait 6-8 weeks for another appointment just because I have a question about meds. I drive 85 miles one way to see this guy. He could at least return a phone call.

I called back in January about being in a terrible mixed state and needing help, he didn't return that call either so I got no help.

Sounds like a bad pdoc. Is there anyway to get another one? Referral maybe

There's supposedly a good one in my area but she only takes cash. $250 for the first visit and $125 for each additional. I currently spend $70 to see the crappy p doc I have. $30 on copay and the rest is gas.

I'd get another psychiatrist. Some are excellent, others good, and once in a while
you'll encounter one like the one you have now. That's really irresponsible behavior
on his part, in my view.

I picked him because he was voted TOP PDOC in his city for the past 5 years. I just don't see how. It makes no sense to me.

Well, I think you're right on target with your evaluation.

i couldn't imagine that! I'm so sorry that he is too busy for his patients! please get another pdoc... you are worth so much more than that!

he didnt return your call .... thats unprofessional ... some pdoc think they know everything..... that they are better than us .... pathetic... just dump him and be done !!!

yeah, but it's hard to dump the one who is there to help you before having a replacement.

I give up. I just called the local psychiatrist. They said they will get all my info from my family doctor and have me scheduled within two weeks. I have to pay cash but maybe this will be one of those times when I get what I pay for. She is new and just finished her residency at Scott and White. Maybe since she is new she will have new ideas on what to offer me? Wish me luck. If I pay $250 for the first visit and she sucks I'm going to cry

i would rather not take help from such losers.... if someone ever said i am not good enough,that person is dead to me... and he doesn't have to say that verbally... even if he ignored like single of my question, or if in his eyes i didn't see enough respect .... i break contact with him ... i already got enough problems and no need to keep such unsympathetic downers around... they strike when you are weakest...

I hope that this Doctor will help you. Write down your questions before you go. Ask specifically what her policy is on phone calls? How quickly you can expect a call back? will she do med changes over the phone?. A list of all your meds, and any you have tried in the past and why they didn't work.

500 calories??! I was put on Geodon today too, and my pdoc told me I can drink a glass of whole milk or eat some ice cream when I take it. I was thinking a spoonful of peanut butter would work.....I rarely, if ever, eat that many calories right before bed. Hmmmm.
