I know that the title of this post is rather odd, so let me explain.

I'm a psychology major, and I'm taking a class about the psych of disabilities. One of our assignments/projects is to do a presentation about a disability to raise awareness, and to include things like services available to people with said disability and other things like that.

So, since I am now a senior in college, and have been attending my school since freshman year, and was diagnosed sophomore year, I am well versed on how things work at my school, so this project won't be very hard for me.

Hope this brightens your day just a little bit
Thanks for this!

That great to hear. I'm a psych major as well and I am sure it will pay off in one way or another.

Have you taken abnormal yet? It'll definitely give you an advantage in that class from such personal experience!

Me too. Great class! This semester I'm taking abnormal child psych which I love even more...but that's because I love kids and how they develop and learn and how their minds work etc. That's why I want to be a preschool teacher!

i tried to take even a general psych class in college for extra credit and i just couldnt handle it because i felt like everyone in the class already knew my diagnosis. like they could. if they couldnt they sure were being classed on it - obviously. i dropped out after the first month. the class. eventually i dropped out of college. 2 different ones cause i had psychotic episodes that literally involved the whole campus. one of them at least and another involved a few classes and some teachers. oh man...everyone KNEW something by then. i almost punched the dean at one college.

Oh, good luck with the project!

I was a psych major before I dropped out of college many years ago. I wanted to be a researcher as opposed to clinical. I love doing research. Anyway, I once did a 10 page paper on how mental illness has been viewed historically and how treatment methods changed over time. There was a lost of scary treatments in the past, and treatment is the wrong words, really. More like horrible torture!

But the reason I got into psychology to begin with was because I felt something was wrong but no one would help me.

BP has definitely given me an advantage in my psych classes. We did a unit on mood disorders in my psychosis class (yes, my school does offer an entire semester on psychosis!). I didn't need to study for that exam, lol.

I'm either a psych or a neurobiology major. I can't decide; I keep going back and forth between the two. I really need to make up my mind, because I hope to graduate in December...
